Best & simplest red bean recipeNov 17, 2007

I've tried all kinds of famous red bean recipes from scratch yet nothing beats Zatarain's red bean seasoning mix - it's simple, easy and is one of my family's absolute favorites. I've had friends come over who would swear that no box would ever beat their (friends, grandma's, mom's, etc.) recipe but all go away agreeing that Zatarain's is truly the best. I typically use with smoked turkey sausage and have been making it for over 12+ years now. Almost impossible to find in stores in the NW. Ordering on-line is best bet. Enjoy!

I usually make red beans from scratch, but since I've tried Zatarain's Red Bean Seasoning Mix, I rarely make my own. I was surprised how good it was, since I found their Red Beans and Rice package mix not very good and would never replace my homemade red beans with that product. Only wish I could have purchased a mixed 12 pack case of a variety of other seasoning mixes like, their Etouffee, Shrimp Creole, and Gumbo base mixes, instead of having to purchase a 12 pack of only one item.

This stuff is so good I buy it by the 12 box pack!
It makes cooking red beans a snap. Just add water and seasoning mix to beans. How much easier can it get?
The flavor is awesome! It takes the spice cabinet and puts it in the pot with one mix.
Saves money not having to buy all the different spices - they are all in the packet!
It has made red beans and rice a hit in my home!
