3Rice never softened well enough.Jun 15, 2011
By Kendra
I know that brown rice takes longer to cook so I was shocked when the box called for letting the rice simmer for 25 minutes. I let mine simmer for 35 and fixed 2 kiddie plates before I tasted the crunchy mess. I set the timer for 20 more minutes and put the lid back on..it did soften up a bit but I make my brown rice to be almost as soft as white rice. Maybe next time I will try making this in my rice cooker since it does a beautiful job on plain brown rice. The flavor was really good on it though. Just cooking time was the problem.
