Cocoa Spice TeaMar 11, 2007

Delicious! Highly recommend to give it a try, if you like Chai. This has a wonderfully mild cocoa taste mixed with subtle spice. The blend is right on the money, as the spice is not overpowering. Contains cinnamon and ginger which is the power behind the smooth cocoa taste. Just YUM!
(from the box: organic cocoa shells, natural chocolate & vanilla flavors, cocoa bean, date powder, natural cinnamon oil, natural cardamom oil, natural ginger oil; contains 5mg caffeine as compared to 90mg of coffee per 8oz)

Not the same Cocoa SpiceMay 29, 2010
By Deliberate I have loved Yogi Cocoa Spice for years. I noticed the name on this item was different (it's "Mayan"!), and we're calling it a "supplement". But I took a chance on 6 boxes, to save time tracking down the old Cocoa Spice. I hoped for the best.
The flavor is different, and if I still had an old box I would probably find the formulations are different. This is pretty good for a cocoa tea, to drink instead of eating chocolate, But it isn't as rich as the original tea. The flavors don't blend together as well, or something. Maybe more focus on marketing and less expensive ingredients?
It's not bad, and it is in the same ballpark as the original tea. But I won't be drinking it as frequently. I don't want to have to add coconut milk calories to make it taste as good as the original. YMMV.
Now I am worried about all the Yogi teas I like..they have all gotten new names and are "supplements". I will be trying them out before I buy any flavor that has had a makeover.

Drink Tea instead of Coffee!Jan 22, 2007
By Arizona Photographer Yogi's Cocoa Spice is a VERY good tea. I was really hooked on Thai Sweet until I tried this one. Now I alternate between the two. The Cocoa Spice has a great but subtle cocoa flavor and not too heavy on the spice. I like a tea that is smooth and not too spicy. This one does have a little caffeine.

I won't lie... I like my tea strong. So strong I often use 3xs what I should for high quality stuff... you could say I'm a bit of a tea junkie... so could the 120+ kinds of teas in my home. This is one of those kinds of teas that you don't want to call tea (and that is strong enough to drink 1 bag to 1 cup!)... especially since it IS best served with a little less water and a little more milk... I like to drink a LOT of tea at once, so I tend to take 2xs the water with 3 bags... told you a lot... and then add milk. The milk MAKES this tea... I guess some could use soy stuff, but I like mine straight from the mama cow's udder, thanks.
Yogi tea definitely gets an award for consistency... the box look changed over time, but the tea... has remained consistent... they are precise. I like that in a tea maker.

Like Water for ChocolateDec 11, 2008

Yogi Tea's Mayan Cocoa Spice is a delicious blend of the spicy and sweet. Imagine the legendary Mexican mole in a cup of tea. As mole is a blend of spices with cocoa, so it is with this tea. It's got a small bit of caffeine in it. It makes one think of the savory recipes in Laura Esquivel's sensuous "Like Water for Chocolate",or the chili/chocolate blend Vianne gives to her French customers in "Chocolat." It's enchanting. It's hot chocolate disguised as a tea. Mayan Cocoa Spice is full of chocolate, spice, and everything nice!
