 possibly the worst tahini in the worldNov 02, 2008

I always keep a well stocked pantry of staples and tahini is a must have on that list. When I ran out recently, I looked for a can of Joyva in the store but there was none to be found. There was, however, a can of Yehuda "Tehina" so I took a chance and bought it. As the previous reviewer states- this is not sesame paste. I agree with him there but at that point we part company. This is rather someone's misdirected attempt to share their tahini sauce recipe. It is flavorless, suspiciously fluffy (which is explained by the ingredient list- STARCH- and in case you are fearful of the fat I guess- it has been cut for you by the addition of chickpeas (which DON'T belong in tahini sauce). Now I don't mind convenience foods- I just don't use them in general, and not for nothing-if I pick something up labelled "chicken" I don't expect to open the package and find breaded nuggets. If the can had been labelled "Tahina SAUCE" I would have passed it by- but it merely says TEHINA. Yehuda needs to get the label right. For the price I can make a bucket of the real thing that actually tastes GOOD.

i noticed this same issue in my local grocery store when i moved from a big city to
suburbia texas & the grocery clerks didn't understand the differance. they are not the same . But tahini can be used to make tehina sauce. good luck.
