5Lovely taste, excellent price!Mar 11, 2010
By Shopper
In the old country, we used to eat whole granulation kasha with fried onions, mushrooms, and bow tie noodles (as well as a tall glass of sour cream! ;o) ). In the US, I see kasha used infrequently, which is really a shame, as the taste is lovely and the nutritional value is rather high (kasha is roasted buckwheat; it contains almost no sodium and, unlike many starches, it is fairly high in protein). A few points to remember:

1) The taste is somewhat sweet. Pair it with foods that are also sweet (I like it with salmon, pulled pork, etc.)
2) I prefer the whole granulation to smaller sizes; it does better in soups, veggie chilis, etc;
3) I cook it without salt to no detriment to the taste;
4) Despite the bulk quantity (twelve boxes in the pack, each box containing eight servings), the product was fresh (Expiry date was Nov 10, 2012)
5) One serving is OK for a small side. Use at least three servings per person, if kasha is the main dish.
6) Wolff's brand of kasha is the best I have tried in the US (so far).
7) For a filling vegetarian low-fat meal, serve it with steamed onions and mashrooms and low fat greek yogurt. Yum!

One last point: The Amazon price was excellent (much better then grocery store price).

5Excellent ProductJan 28, 2011

I really have enjoyed Wolff's Kasha for many years. It is a whole grain-like product, so it has fiber and is very nutritious with a delicious taste. Gluten free, buckwheat, being a plant food, is low in cholesterol and saturated fat. Of course, buckwheat has no trans fats at all. It is also low in sodium. Mineral nutrition includes copper, magnesium, and manganese. Cooked with the standard kasha recipe using egg, this product is a source of complete protein.

5Delicious kashaJan 15, 2011

I really love kasha varnishkas, a dish my grandmother used to make. Sometimes it's difficult to find Wolff's Kasha in the grocery store, so I decided to buy some on line. I have been using this product for many years, and now I have a dozen boxes to keep me going for a while. Love that kasha.

5Good for you and tasty too.Sep 15, 2011

After searching all my local supermarkets and couldn't find the WHOLE grain I ordered from Amazon and couldn't be more happy with my purchase. I now have enough for the whole neighborhood, but I am pleased to have the supply and know when these are gone I can always go to Amazon for the hard to find items. I even requested my local supermarket to order in the WHOLE grain but waited for 2 months and they never did get them so I just had to have them and now I have filled the need for our family. Amazon, thanks for your prompt service and wide variety of merchandise.
