5Trisodium citrate dihydrateFeb 29, 2012
By Eclectic Teacher
According to info sent to me from the company (very prompt and complete response when I inquired, BTW), this powder is "trisodium citrate dihydrate".

It is one of the ingredients used to make oral re-hydration solution. "Sodium citrate" is the generic name that covers monosodium-, disodium-, and trisodium citrates, also known as "Food Additive E331".

Oral rehydration solution, according to the World Health Org, is:
1 liter clean water
13.5 grams of glucose (not just table sugar, which has fructose - shop around for best prices)
2.9 grams of sodium citrate (that's a generic name that covers several similar molecules), but specifically it is this stuff
2.6 g NaCl (sodium chloride, also known as common table salt)
1.5 g KCl (potassium chloride, a common no-sodium salt substitute)
