Okay but watch out for Food Dye and MSGFeb 18, 2012

Recently I ended up making Goya, Vigo, and Mahatma Yellow rice all within a few weeks, and I have to say that Vigo was our least favorite taste-wise. It wasn't bad, just milder than what we were used to. Less flavor and a lighter color.
What was more disappointing though was that Vigo uses both Red dye #3 and Yellow dye #4 as Sodium Sulfate (Sulfite, Sulphite), and more corn than I expect in rice.
In addition it contains something called "Plant Protein Hydrolyzed" which FoodFacts tells me is lingo for Tree Nuts.
So no more for us unfortunately. At least not until they drop the artificial dyes and nuts :(

A versatile and flavorful saffron rice mix.Sep 24, 2009
By pixels and bits Our children are always excited to find that Vigo Yellow Rice is on the menu. The smell alone will encourage a busy teenager to linger at home until at least after dinner. Typically, we have this rice with pork or chicken recipes. Leftovers lend themselves to a variety of uses such as casseroles, soups and even fried rice dishes. I love to add a bit of salsa to a bowl of leftover rice and heat it for a quick lunch. I cook this rice in a basic rice cooker with no problem at all - it is fully cooked and fluffy every time.
Best Rice I have EVER madeJul 22, 2011

I have made this rice since I was a teenager in Boston. It has the most delicious flavor goes PERFECT with any Chicken or Seafood dish. If you cook it just right it should come out very moist and flavorful... the trick is to use butter and stir the seasonings often (make sure it is throughout the pot) I used to only find the rice this rice back home in Boston or in Florida when I would visit my Mom now you can get them here on Amazon this is GREAT!
BTW whenever there is a potluck I like to make this rice because EVERYONE loves it and you couldn't you just buy it anywhere.

Absolutely the best - cooks up perfect, very close to the yellow rice and chicken dish I enjoyed in Tampa as a kid.

I'm so impressed. No matter if I prepare this rice in a rice cooker or in a pan it always comes out light and fluffy. And the taste is amazing. Never again will I ever make my own Spanish rice from scratch - this is much better and much easier.
