 The best electrolyte drink on the market without a shadow of doubtJun 28, 2010

I've been buying Ultima consistently for about 3 years now and it makes me wonder how I ever tolerated Gatorade or any other junk-laden sports drink. I don't just use it for sports, although nothing beats it after a workout. I drink a couple of glasses of this every night and sometimes more during the summer.
The only nice flavors are this one - lemonade - and orange. They're the only two that taste as advertised. At one time or another I've tried the other flavors and regretted it immediately. I think the lemonade and orange flavors are delicious and there's no way I have to force this stuff down. In fact I even add it to "green" drinks like Green Vibrance in order to make the taste more palatable.
Don't listen to anyone who says you have to mix this for 15 minutes. That's nuts. I mix mine in a glass and stir it with a spoon for about 20 seconds. I find that no matter how much you stir it, you'll always be left with a tiny amount of powder in the bottom of the glass but this is not a problem whatsoever. It never tastes gritty or chalky to me and I don't even notice the few grains left in the bottom.
This stuff hydrates you every bit as well as Gatorade and then some. You can feel the hydration as you're drinking it. Nothing else helps me recuperate after an intense workout as well as Ultima.
My only complaint is the price, I could do with it being a little cheaper - but hey, you pay a little more for the good stuff. I just wish they made and distributed a pre-mixed drink to go in the fridge alongside Gatorade because that would be extremely convenient and I'm sure they'd end up outselling Gatorade too.

Okay, I've only had this a few weeks, but I really like it. You know how some sports drinks are gross unless you're REALLY thirsty? (This makes it hard to drink some prior to whatever activity you're about to do). Ultima doesn't really have that problem at all. I've tried the Clif powder and wasn't too impressed. They are around the same price and I feel like you can use less Ultima powder per serving than the Clif. But hey, I'm not a "go-by-the-directions" dude, either, so don't hold me to that.
Honestly, if you like actual lemonade, this is pretty close. But I'm gonna let you in on a little secret: take 1 big spoonful (remember when I said no directions?!) and add it to a big glass of water. Add in a small spoonful of agave nectar and a small spoonful of lemon juice (I bought the bottled kind for this, no need to go gourmet for a sports drink). Trust me, it tastes VERY much like lemonade without having much sugar. I'm glad to have a vegan, natural electrolyte mix that actually tastes pleasant instead of like salt. And like I said, I feel like it lasts a while. I'm not an endurance athlete, but I bike to work and back nearly every day, and I always drink Ultima afterwards... it isn't a miracle product, but you'll notice a difference if you're used to just drinking water.

My son (age 10) is an avid hockey player and has taken to putting this in his water bottle before every game AND practice. It really helps him stay hydrated and replenished. we were introduced to this product at a 5K Mother's Day run, and have been using it consistently since then. My husband is quite active too, and loves it as well. I have heard that it is great as a hangover remedy as well, because it replenishes & rehydrates - don't know about that, but I will definitely try it should the need arise!
We have tried the lemonade & the raspberry. My 12-yr old loves the raspberry, and my other 2 love the lemonade. Go for it!!
