4Noodles + Peanuts = Good!May 23, 2007
By kirabug
Okay, first, a disclaimer: I have no experience whatsoever of legitimate Thai food. So my review is based on the ease of prep and taste.

Ease of preparation: Have scissors handy. Don't leave them at your desk at the office and think you're going to cook this in the kitchenette with the ancient plastic butter knife. This meal comes with a fork, but it doesn't come with any easy way to open the various packets of stuff. In fact, you can't get to the fork without the scissors either.

Outside of that, it's a snap. Open the noodles and dump them in the included tray. Then you can either add boiling water and wait five minutes or fill the tray with cold water and microwave it for something like 3 minutes. (I do the boiling water from the coffeemaker.) Drain the tray using the nifty pre-cut tray-draining holes in the lid, cut the oil and spice packets open, dump them on the drained noodles, mix with the fork, and eat.

Taste: The noodles don't have a lot of flavor on their own, which is why you have the spice packet. It's a nice mix of sweet and tangy, and the peanuts still taste like peanuts, not like freeze-dried something. Sometimes I add extra peanuts, but you don't have to. The spice is enough to cover all of the noodles, without being overwhelming. Everything tastes fresh and it's not overly salty. It beats every form of Ramen I've ever seen hands down in every way imaginable. When you eat these instant noodles, you'll believe you ate real noodles.

Overall score: 4 out of 5, because the packaging is truly a pain in the butt, especially if you forget your scissors. Still, it's so much better than many of the alternatives (and relatively lo-cal!) that you'll find yourself mixing them into your lunch routine on a regular basis.

5Better then ramenJan 25, 2008

At my college we aren't allowed to have microwaves in our rooms and the communal microwave in the common room is disgusting so anything that allows me to avoid the microwave and just make something in my room using my hotpot is wonderful. These Thai Noodle Carts are great, the prep is easy and it's only one serving so there aren't any leftovers to sit around in my fridge. The Noodle Cart products are also great because they are real rice noodles and not a gross imitation. All the noodle products are good but are hard to find in most grocery stores.

2No so goodJan 19, 2010

I found the noodles to be bland. There was just a little sweetness, and no peanut flavor at all. Even the peanuts themselves were tasteless orange pellets. I couldn't even finish it.

5Quick lunchApr 24, 2009

I keep a few of these in my desk in case I don't have time to make my lunch before school. They are tasty, quick, easy, filling, and nutritious.

5Delicious Easy LunchJan 06, 2009

Tasty, Gluten Free rice noodles, a break from the commonplace. It's self-contained. Add water, microwave for 3 minutes, stir in pouch contents.
