5fills the sensesOct 25, 2007

I really enjoyed this product. It had light noodles and a tangy, spicy flavor. It came complete with a fork and a little tray. The little tray, after cleaned, had many uses too.

1Flavorless, gummy, disgustingDec 02, 2007

After recently acquiring a day job, where I need to dine at the desk, I started exploring boxed noodle dishes. I started with Annie Chun's Udon Soup Noodle Bowl, 5.3-Ounce Bowls (Pack of 6), and I loved them. Her Annie Chun's Teriyaki Noodle Bowl, 8.2-Ounce Bowls (Pack of 6)were not nearly as good, but still better than vending machines. These Pad Thai noodles came next. I have eaten Thai Kitchen Spring Onion soup from the grocery store, and it's terrific. I had high hopes for this Pad Thai from the reviews, on which I heavily rely for Amazon grocery shopping.

They are dry and gummy, and the sauce isn't sauce at all, but powder. You're supposed to sprinkle the 2 Tbl packet of powder onto the noodles AFTER you drain off the water, which leaves the noodles grainy. I tried leaving some of the water in to dissolve the seasoning and it only diluted what little flavor you get from the packet. Also, there are little bead-like morsels that won't dissolve at all. I think they are supposed to be tofu, but instead you just want to spit them out like watermelon seeds.

To be fair, I tried the noodles three times, adjusting the prep each time, and nothing helped. I'm not picky. I'm a real foodie, but I don't discriminate against a good mac-n-cheese or noodle bowl. I even thought of cooking the noodles and topping them with my own sauce, but the noodles were not even good enough for that. Don't waste your money, or your lunch hour, on these noodles.

2Not very tastyJan 11, 2010

I have become addicted to Pad Thai at the buffet next to my workplace. I sampled this product in an attempt to ween myself off this addiction.

Unfortunately this product manages to combine the flavor of a hot plastic tray with the texture of a wet stack of mailing envelopes. As other people have mentioned, it is difficult to evenly distribute the powder so that it co-mingles with the noodle paste in a way that doesn't lead to spots that taste like the back of a stamp while others contain an almost painful flavor explosion.

All in all the other box I bought is going in my cube next to the rest of my emergency rations; emergency because I won't eat them unless it's a choice between that and eating actual stationary for lunch.

5Great for a tasty quick mealApr 24, 2009

I keep a few of these in my desk in case I don't have time to make my lunch before school. They are tasty, quick, filling, and nutritious.
