Swanson's Chicken BrothMay 13, 2011

I started a "soup for dinner" diet earlier this year, so am making fresh soups 2-3 times per week. While Swanson's isn't as good as homemade broth, it is a great substitute. I use it for most of my vegetable based soups, whichs gives a richness and body that I just can't get with vegetable broth.
Useful and tastyFeb 10, 2011
By Stormlaughter This is very much like a chef-prepared chicken stock. I use it for cooking frequently and it never lets me down. If it has any secret MSG then my system hasn't noticed it.
Don't think the price would be worth it outside the Subscribe and Save discount. As much as I use of it, the subscription was the way to go for me.
fat-free AND next-best thing to sodium-free!Feb 04, 2011
By Chris S. Broths or stocks have become ubiquitous in homestyle cooking, but many of us want to limit fat and sodium. Fat-free broths such as this one are widely available, thank goodness (and you can make almost any broth fat-free yourself, just by chilling it, removing the top of the container, and discarding the fat which will have risen to the top).
But it's pretty hard to find decent low-sodium broths, partly because it's cheaper for food companies to add salt than to flavor their product any other way. Swanson's used to have fat-free, sodium-free broths that I swore by, but I literally can't find them anymore.
This is the next best thing. Both this and the beef version let you drastically cut back on the salt in what is, let's face it, the most voluminous ingredient in most of your cooking.
Since studies suggest that average Americans eat at least twice the safe amount of sodium each day, and since high sodium intake is associated with high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes and other health issues, these 50%-reduced-sodium broths can make a big difference for all of us. Way to go!! Now, if only we could get the sodium free versions??!! :)
Good price on a good chicken brothJul 03, 2010
By L. Staley I use this chicken broth - A LOT - so I was happy to find it on Amazon on a subscription plan for significantly less than I buy it at the grocery store. The shipment came promptly and was well packed - no problems with damage.
I like the lower sodium option, especially for the soups I often make. To me, it tastes as good as the full sodium option.
Great and Convenient!Mar 20, 2010
By C. Lee Have this as a subscription sent directly to me every few months. It is definitely more convenient that having to lug it back from the grocery store.
