Drier than other brands I have enjoyed, not as sweetMar 26, 2007

I am not a fan of the so-called "Turkish" dried apricots, which are too soft and too sweet for my tastes. Rather I prefer these chewier, somewhat more tart "California-style" apricots. However, these Sun-Maid 'cots were a disappointment. They were quite small, very dry, and at least one bag was intolerably tart---not sweet at all. One bag was also filled incorrectly---only contained two or three apricot pieces. Amazon was kind enough to ship me another. If you have a Trader Joes' near you, check out their bulk bags of dried apricots---much tastier, and more affordable too.

Sweet-tart & yummyNov 12, 2010
By Barbara Runkle My family loves these so much more than the Mediterranean apricots because of their tartness! Unfortunately, we can't find these in our grocery stores anymore -

Disappointed!Aug 27, 2010
By Mondoman I grew up in Silicon Valley back when we still had apricot trees from the old orchards, so I'm a sucker for California (not Mediterranean) apricots. I saw this product in my local store and foolishly bought two packs without tasting it first! The apricots were bitter; even I would have preferred Mediterranean apricots over these. I also noticed that the packaging doesn't call them California apricots, but rather "dried halves" and "product of USA, Chile, or Argentina".
Stay away from this poor-quality product and buy something really tasty (I like Mariani's California Apricots).

SO much better than the Mediterranean ApricotsJun 01, 2009

I am a big fan of Sun-Maid California apricots! They have just the right balance of tartness, sweetness and tangy apricot flavor. Mediterranean apricots are mushy, overly sweet and for the most part devoid of the rich apricot flavor that is so strong and delicious in the California apricots. You just can't beat the quality of these dried apricots.
Prompt and deliciously tart.Apr 20, 2012
By Johanna Engel I hadn't realized I could order the CA Sunmaid Apricots on-line. In FL they only carry the imported, cloyingly sweet Sunmaid Apricots. From now on I will try to order more things through Amazon.
