Founded in 1972, the company derives its name from an entertaining aspect of tea folklore. In earlier centuries, tea was a valuable commodity traditionally transported by clipper ship. The ship's captain often was presented with some of the finest teas for his personal use. This supply was his "stash," stowed carefully as his "private reserve." Today, the term still is used to denote anything put away carefully because of its preciousness. Stash Premium Decaf Chai Spice Tea is made with naturally decaffeinated black teas, cinnamon, clove, ginger, and cardamom. The brewed tea is very aromatic, with a flavor that is strong and sweet with rich, lingering flavor notes. This tea is delicious plain, or with milk (regular or evaporated) and sugar added. The tea is naturally decaffeinated, letting you savor this tea any time of day. For its decaffeinated teas, Stash uses an advanced completely natural European process. This process removes 99.5 percent of the caffeine, leaving the tea leaves with all the flavor, color and aroma you expect from Stash premium teas. Stash Tea has been committed to providing premium quality teas and an unsurpassed tea drinking experience. Stash begins with simply excellent tea leaves from the world's premier tea gardens and all natural botanical ingredients gathered from around the world. My cure for morning coffeeMar 21, 2010
By R. L. Barnett
"Do-it-yourselfer"
My doctor recently suggested (strongly) that I cut out my 3+ cups of coffee per day. Now mind you, I am a Starbucks drinker. I LOVE my coffee and I have for years. I told my doctor and myself that this was not possible. However, I re-thought and considering my health issues, I decided to take the plunge, so to speak. . . into the No-coffee, no caffeine pool. But what to substitute on those cold mornings??? I have enjoyed Stash Chai tea for a few years but it was always a treat for winter days when I was already over-coffeed. I tried many teas to see if anything satisfied to replace for my morning joe. Nothing, truly, Nothing satisfied my taste buds, my comfort buttons...my need for a stimulating aroma. Until. . . I went back to my STASH Chai. Decaf as it is, it satisfies all my taste and aroma needs and we are now 7 months out and I declare myself fully De-coffee'd. I no longer need that cup of jolt any longer and I am fully satisfied by my STASH decaf chai. I am amazed and delighted! I want to stock up on my tea, lest they stop making it! Heaven forbid! I get my STASH with the regular subscription monthly. Can't be without my STASH Decaf Chai!

Exotic and refreshing!Aug 14, 2009
By Kurt A. Johnson The Stash Tea Company was founded in 1972, in Tigard, Oregon, a suburb of Portland, and was originally operated out of a Victorian-style house. But, right from the beginning the company focused on making only premium teas. That commitment to quality has propelled Stash Tea to the position of one of America's largest tea companies.
Among Stash Tea's wonderful infusions is Chai Spice Black Tea. "Chai" comes from the Hindi word for tea, but in the West it is interpreted as Masala Chai, Indian spiced tea. Well, in fact this tea is a wonderful version of Indian spiced tea, based on a mix of Indian black teas, spiced with ginger, cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg and cloves.
Now, as you might expect from that description, this is a spicy tea. When I first opened the package, the smell of cinnamon wafted up to me and I thought, "Oh no, cinnamon tea?" Well, the flavor is much more complex than that - spicy, but not in an overpowering way. In fact the flavor is exotic and refreshing, and a real joy to drink.
Now, some people prefer it iced (and it is delicious iced), but I think that I prefer it hot. There's nothing better on a cold evening than then smell and taste of Chai Spice Black Tea filling your senses. (By the way, if you find this tea a little overpowering, just add a little milk to smooth it out.)
I highly recommend this great tea!
Delicious!Feb 21, 2012
By S. R. Hochbaum I didn't like tea very much until recently, and to me sugar and milk make tea taste disgusting. I've enjoyed a few flavors but when I got my hands on this, I knew it was meant to be. You take the teabag out of its pouch and it smells delicious, better than any tea I've ever smelled. Seriously, they could make potpourri out of this stuff! Compared to other chai's that I've tasted, this is my favorite. It comes in both decaf and caffeinated, so you can have it anytime... and just, yum. I highly recommend this tea!
This tea is deliciousAug 28, 2011
By lezzle This Chai tea has such a great flavor. I drink it year round. In the summer I make iced tea out of it and always keep a container in the refrigerator. Once it cools off outside and I need to warm up I switch to hot tea. I've tried several other brands and always come back to this one. My grocery store stopped carrying the decaf version which I like since I drink so much iced tea in the summer, so I'm happy to see it on Amazon.
