1If you like licorice you will hate this.Dec 27, 2007

Flavorless black jujubee- all filler no flavor. Barely discernible licorice taste in a starchy semi-hard gel that doesn't really chew - After the first bite the candy tube collapses and it just fragments into smaller gel bits. It's like they made the candy for someone who doesn't like the taste of licorice- and I bought five lbs. of this waste. Stupid me. Hope you licorice lovers don't get burnt. Good luck.

1If you like no flavorJan 22, 2012

This stuff is like chewing a flavorless piece plastic. I have been buying Gustaf's sugar free Licorice and thought I would try this one. Mistake I don't think the dog will even eat this stuff. Going back to my Gustaf's.

two issues cause me to give the product one star.
-packaging: 5 pounds of the product came wrapped, but not sealed, in plastic inside a cardboard box. as i pulled out the plastic, the bites fell everywhere.
-taste and consistency: while the smell is normal/good, the product doesn't taste like black licorice, leaves an unpleasant aftertaste, and has the consistency of rubber.
i bought this product as a gift, and was totally embarassed and disappointed in its quality.

I have had very good sugar free chewy black licorice before but these were not. Sugar free were the only thing they were. Otherwise they were hard but flavorless. I was very disappointed as I love a great piece of strong flavored sugar free black licorice. Now what am I going to do with 5 lbs of this stuff?

1I didn't realize "sugar free" meant "taste free"Sep 03, 2011

They've got the appearance of licorice, but close your eyes and you would be hard pressed to identify the taste if someone put one in your mouth. They're really, really bland.

If you try hard, you can taste a bit of licorice flavor, but would it have really hurt to put some more licorice oil in there? After all, those of us trying to avoid sugar are not trying to avoid licorice oil.

The consistency isn't great either. It's a bit starchy. But I'd take it if they had any taste. As it stands, I have five pounds of these, with no idea what to do with them, because I'm not going to waste the calories eating something this tasteless.
