The Sorbee brand had its start in the pharmaceutical industry, manufacturing lollypops that were given to children by doctors after their dental visit. It started in the late '70s, when Elliot Stone and his father, Dr. Harold G. Stone, operated a pharmaceutical manufacturing business, supplying products to dentists, doctors, pediatricians, hospitals, and clinics. The sugarless lollypop was researched, developed, and manufactured. Within a short time, samples were produced and interest was created in the product. With a huge customer base already well established, Elliot began shipping his new sugarless lollypops to dentist offices nationwide. The sugarless lollypop seemed to catch on quickly, and it became a big hit with the kids--and especially their moms. Since the name of the company was printed on the stick, mothers wanting to purchase the product called the company directly. While Sorbee began to sell direct, it realized quickly that the product needed to be sold through retail channels.

Today, "Sorbee" and "sugar-free" have become almost synonymous, and the company now offers over 24 flavors of sugar-free hard candy, assorted lollypops, gummy bears, licorice bites, cherry bites, fruit chews, chocolate chews, caramels, starlite mints, chocolates, syrups, spreads and cookies. In addition to the Sorbee brand of sugar-free products, Sorbee International Limited has one other division, one which markets a full line of low-fat, low-calorie chocolate bars under the DreamCandy brand.
