I have been a Sony man for a long time and have always been happy with the quality of their products. I have never seen a Sony product that I felt was not decent quality to great quality. I have purchased everything from Sony Boom Boxes to Sony LCD TVs, Sony Tube TV, Sony VCRs, Sony DVD Players, Sony Blu-Ray players, Sony Stereo receivers and much more over the past 25 years and been very satisfied until now. Background on me: I used to work for Best Buy selling (before the "Blue Shirt" days) and have been selling computers for over 20 years now. That said, I felt safe ordering Sony speakers for my home PC since I had never experienced a poor quality Sony product. I was surprised when they arrived. While the Subwoofer was a nice size for a desktop and felt substantial and sounded decent, the satellite speakers do not deserve the name Sony on them. They are so light weight the thin speaker cable (which is far too short) will move the satellites with ease if the wire is bump or even has a slight kink. The sound from the satellites was equal to the entry level $8 speakers you would see online. I gave it 2 stars for sound quality only because the sub was OK, but the satellites were not worth 1 star... ...OK maybe 1 star. I did return the set. I have an older set of Creative Labs SBS 350 that sounds great that I will move onto my main PC and look for something else to replace that.
The bottom line is the speaker wires are too short, the sound from the Seattleites reminds me of a transistor radio and the sub was just OK. I have to presume that Sony contracted with someone else and put the Sony name on their product. Definitely not worth the $50 I paid, perhaps under $20??

I bought this after i return two other thing. I found this one's sound more real than the other two. It's really stylish. But I wish I could change the bass volume because for some songs, the default setting of bass is not good. but over all, I'm satisfy with this, and I'm not going to return this, but I recommend you to look in other brands and then decide on this.

I'm surprised by the bad reviews, because I'm very happy with these speakers. The sub-woofer unit is pleasingly heavy, but fits nicely under my monitor stand. The satellite speakers are small, but cute and appear well made. The wires are a bit shorter than I would prefer, but are a heavier gauge wire than I've seen in comparable units, and don't give me the feeling they're likely to just fall off, as has been the case with other units I tried previously. I'm no great audiophile, and lived for years on my laptop speakers, so these are a nice step up. They're great for my bedroom/work area needs, and do equally well for movies and music, giving a nice, clear sound at any volume I've tried. After shopping around for quite a bit, I feel like these were a good find.
