Pocket-sized reliable storageSep 19, 2008

I got this a year ago and I use it for backups of my laptop and transferring files. It fits just about anywhere. Now that drives of similar size, but greater capacity are becoming more affordable, I may use this as dedicated storage on my desktop at home, but it has been reliable and worked with any PC I have connected it to. The data transfer rate is OK. I do keep it in a TSA-sized zip-lock with its cable to give it a little protection from dust and moisture. You could describe it as being nearly passport-sized (just a little thicker).

Portable Hard DiskJan 20, 2008
By David Stimmel The SimpleTech 120GB USB2.0 5400 RPM Portable Hard Drive worked right out of the box. Just plug into USB and copy files and no need for a power cord.

Nothing but problems after first yearApr 04, 2012
By Gator Girly I purchased this during grad school to keep my massive thesis files organized and safe in case something happened to my laptop. Grad school is two years, and right around the start of my second year, when this drive was a year old, it started giving me problems. I would plug it in and could feel/hear it "working," but only the red light would come on - not the blue. I tried different ports, different cords, different computers...nothing. The next day, it would work just fine. I was able to get another one for my school files but I have been intermittently able to use this drive. I foolishly transferred all my photos, documents and music to this when I got a new computer because I was on a tight budget. It took me a dozen tries before I was able to access my data. Now that it's off, I don't know what to do with this $200 piece of junk.
Nice and simple backup solutionApr 10, 2011
By DroidHackX This drive works as described. The safest and easiest way to plug it in is to plug the two USB adapters into the PC and then to plug in the remaining USB into the drive. To disconnect the drive, reverse the order: Unplug the singe USB from the drive first, the unplug the USBs from the PC. This method WILL NOT damage your USB ports or your backup drive! The backup speed is nothing special, as it uses USB after all. But it does the job. The best part is that it is compact, reliable, and inexpensive. I recommend the SimpleTech portable hard drives.
