Worked for us!Mar 30, 2009
By twinmommy Just wanted to say that my son was premature and had severe reflux and allergies to the milk protein. This formula was better than any other, even the Neocate. Just a side note, the liquid formula IS different than the powder. The liquid formula doesn't contain corn solids and the powder does. I had my son on the powder and he would arch and pull away after two ounces (his twin sister could take about 5-6 ounces at this point and his weight was much less than hers). I switched to the liquid and he sucked it down like he hadn't eaten in months. It's very expensive but totally worth it in our circumstance! The only reason it doesn't get five stars is b/c, yes, it has a horrible smell... but he likes it so I don't really care what it smells like!

INSURANCE WILL PAY for hypoallergenic formula!!May 28, 2009
By Amy Green Hypoallergenic formula was necessary for our daughter's acid reflux.
We found out from a friend that most insurance companies will completely cover the cost of hypoallergenic formula, either by reimbursing you what you've spent on it, or if you get it as a prescription through your pediatrician. Ours did!
Many doctors don't know this, so they don't know to give a prescription for the formula. Call your insurance company today!

Great for milk protien allergyOct 27, 2010
By Pamela Delaney My daughter has a milk protein allergy and we had to switch to this formula. It's been great so far. Yes, it is more expensive than all the other formula, but there are not a lot of options if your child is allergic to cow's milk. Right now the formula is on sale (about $6.50 per bottle vs. $9 per bottle). I think it is due to the Similac recall that everything is on sale. I would stock up now if you are able! We have tried the powder version and to be honest it smells disgusting. It makes me want to vomit although the baby does not seem to care. I just can't handle it and we only use it when we are out of the house and can't keep a cold bottle with us.

Covered by InsuranceDec 07, 2011
By Heartwarriormom This formula is the only one that will allow my little one's digestive system to work. The only negative is the smell/taste. The price on Amazon is great, but check with your insurance about covering it through home heath. We now get it shipped monthly to us through our insurance.

Excellent!Nov 21, 2011
By New York Reader Our son had very very bad congestion until he started on Alimentum and now it is completely gone and we are so relieved. We used to hear him wheezing all night long and worry all the time about him. Now he can finally breath. It took about 8 days for us to see results. We couldn't get him to take any of the other hypoallergenic formulas - he would gag and throw them up but he liked this one right away. Our only complaint is the price! We wish it wasn't so expensive. But it's well worth it.
