Quality canned fish, but is it sprats?Mar 28, 2011
By R. Blackburn
"Freedom Lover"
Sprats are not a common meal in Colorado, but I was given a recipe which looked good, and I do like other canned fish (such as sardines, herring, kippers, etc), so I ordered this brand known for its quality. The fish was a little soft, but the flavour mild and pleasant, and the canned packed full. The olive oil is key for nutritional value, especially when used in salad or a casserole. What confuses me, and why I gave four instead of five stars, is that the ingredient list on the can says "Smoked Brisling Sardines." Online references say that sardines and sprats are different small fish, but when I phoned the company they disagree. Whatever the fish, I recommend these if you want a convienent nutrienet dense safe seafood.
