single slice spamSep 12, 2009

I love these individual packages! Now I don't have to waste half a can if only one person wants it. My sister sends these in her husbands lunch. They're great!

To each his own!May 14, 2010
By Chris S. OK, I can't stand this stuff -- but my husband absolutely loves it. Brings back memories of his distressed childhood in the '50s, when no one in his community had much meat and a can of SPAM was a treasure to be shared breathtakingly with a lot of people.
OK, so what do we do? I hate having an open whole can in the fridge -- for one, it's unpleasant for me, and two, it just means that to try to finish it he'll eat more as soon as possible, which is hardly good for him (or he'll eat the whole can right from the start --ditto!).
But these single serving packs are a godsend.
Yes, one is exactly the right size for a sandwich. So what if I hate it that he takes 2 to work? That's better than a whole can's worth, right? And it IS great emergency food (for him, I mean -- I can't imagine how hungry I'd have to be to eat this, even if the power were out, but then again he can't stand my emergency pouches of white meat tuna in water, so we're even!).
I don't care that the packaging is wasteful, I don't care that it costs more -- this product is terrific, solving different problems for both of us! We're happy to have a case in the house, now almost empty, and we'll be ordering more. For the SPAM lover in your life, this is a good solution for both of you!

Great to have in the pantryNov 08, 2010
By D. A. J. Okay, while this isn't health food by any stretch of the imagination, two of my children love it. I think it is great that the packages have such a long shelf life. Buying on Amazon, especially with Subscribe and Save is much cheaper than purchasing this product in the grocery store. Always love having some on the shelf. Not an every day food, but a great "mommy is tired, here you go" sort of thing.

This is an excellent backpackers meat. My son loves the taste - I am impartial, but the packaging is great for travel/backpacking.
I understand they love this stuff in Hawaii????

Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, SPAM! (Don't knock it 'til you try it...)Dec 29, 2010
By Billy Suratt This is the perfect put-it-in-the-cabinet-and-forget-it emergency meat with a very long shelf life.
How long a shelf life? Well, I've got some that says "Best by Apr. 27, 2012" which has probably been in the cabinet for at least two or three years already.
It's not something you'll probably want to eat every day (or even every week), but it's great to keep on-hand. Good for natural disasters, power outages, camping, college dorms, financial shortages or times when you just don't feel like cooking anything.
One pack is the perfect serving size for a sandwich or to chop up and mix with a can of beans for a filling meal.
You can also eat it straight from the package without barfing because it doesn't have a ring of gelatinous goo like its canned counterpart.
