Tasty Japanese snack that goes well with beerFeb 11, 2009
By Jared Castle Dried squid is an acquired taste and one best developed with copious amounts of draft beer. The Japanese answer to beef jerky will appeal to people who enjoy smoked fish and canned sardines. I also recommended dried squid if you've tried and enjoy other Japanese pub snacks like Edamame and Rice Crackers.
I spent many years living in Japan. I ate dried squid at baseball games, at summer picnics and, most often, as an appetizer at Japanese pubs, known as Izakaya. Although this product comes seasoned it isn't uncommon to see dried squid lightly dredged across a small dish of soy sauce or Kewpie mayonnaise. Try out some other dipping sauces if you like but there's enough seasoning to enjoy these plain.
In summary, whether for a picnic, a fishing trip or a baseball game, these handy snacks are a tasty change of pace from beef jerky. And don't forget the beer!

Dried SquidJul 07, 2010

"Doomed"
I love squid, but this dried squid tasted like rotten dead fish to me :/. I honestly tried to like it, wanted to like it, but in the end i gave up. Shows some people will enjoy this and some wont, considering the other reviewer loved this brand of dried squid.
