This is the best Pu-ehr available now on Amazon.
The earthy-ness that characterizes I would rank at
a 9 of 10. The flavor opens up with each sip as
it cools down while drinking. By the end of cup one
you are ready for more, and each tou che allows a
few steepings.

Has the deep (and I mean deep) dark red of a good
dark Pu-ehr, and the flavor is rich, slight bitter after bite,
not unpleasing. If you like strong dark coffee, this would take
it's place in a heart beat.

One thing not mentioned on the can, while water is set to boil, run
the lil' birds nest tou che under some hot water to "loosen" it proir to
steeping. Not special to this brand, is just the proper way to prepare
the beverage.

5Very satisfied with the quality of this teaFeb 09, 2009

I was first introduced to Pu-Ehr tea by a Chinese friend, who told me that most westerners do not like it. After one sip, I agreed with him, and after one cup, I was hooked. That's the way it is with Pu-Ehr tea - initially an acquired taste, then an addiction.

This tea is quite a good Pu-Ehr for the price. Some low quality Pu-Ehr tastes very musty and earthy; this does not. I brew one brick in a 22 fluid ounce (0.65 liter), and this yields the entire Pu-Ehr experience. (A can contains 25 bricks.) The first cups are mild, but the bottom couple of cups yield the heavy duty Pu-Ehr jolt.

Never add sugar or milk or lemon to Pu-Ehr, just take it straight or with dried chrysanthemum blossoms.

5Addictive!Nov 25, 2006

This is my new favorite tea. It's black as coffee maybe even darker. It has a very strong flavor. You will either love it or hate it. The tea leaves are allowed to decompose or compost a bit.... it is weird but it makes a amazingly powerful tea. It is supposed to promote weight loss if you want to use it for that reason.

5Delicious cooked pu-erhJul 19, 2010
By Sev's Favorite Potions Girl
I'm SO glad I gave these tuo chas a chance!!! I've recently become a huge pu-erh fan, so I've been on the lookout for great pu-erh that won't cost me a leg. I keep hearing that tuos don't usually have great quality, that often tea dust and poor quality leaves are compressed to make the "nests" (and yes, I've tasted those often enough to say it's true), but that's not the case here. In fact, this has become one of my favorite pu-erhs. (I've also tried Rishi Tea Pu-erh Classic, 3.2-Ounce Tins (Pack of 3), which I thought was bound to be better simply because it was loose leaf, but that is not the case. I was not impressed... this one is much tastier.)

I can get 3 huge mugs (each with a strong brew) out of 1 little tuo. The 4th one is already too watery, but the 3rd is still as strong as I like. This tea made me understand those comments about good pu-erh being "a mouthful", thick (I used to wonder what on earth it meant); it is like gulping milk, very interesting experience. I can't really describe the flavor, except to say that it's mellow, sweet, and very yummy. As all pu-erhs, it never gets bitter. To make this taste like heaven, I sometimes add a little bit of Numi Organic Tea Chocolate Puerh, Loose Leaf Tea, 16 Ounce Bag for some chocolate/vanilla/orange flavor - perfection in a cup!!!

I was wondering how many tuos actually fit into one of these little tins... and the answer is, quite a lot of them! That was another good surprise.

5Pleasant SurpriseMay 18, 2008
By Knight Owl
I like trying different teas (primarily non-herbals), and after hearing about Pu-erh I was intriqued. From what I've read so far, I believe this particular version is not aged like the very high-end, expensive, caked versions are, but it seemed like a good way to get a taste of this tea variety. I am not disappointed at all. Though it's not a drastic departure from other teas, it's not quite like any I've had before. It's very mild and earthy, with a subtle sweetness -- VERY pleasant!

Something else that sets it apart from other (non-herbal) teas: It doesn't get bitter after extended steeping! Furthermore, as I've read elsewhere, just one serving goes a long way. In fact, I never stop steeping it. When my cup is almost empty, I just top it off again. I get at least four flavorful cups with just one of the prewrapped nuggets.

This instantly became one of my favorite teas. I'm delighted I finally discovered it, and just may have to spend the $ to try one of the more expensive/exotic versions. If it's even better than this, I would understand why folks are willing to pay such a premium $.
