I'm Converted!Apr 14, 2008

This long grain,American Basmati brown rice is sensational.
I have switched from my old brand of rice to this one for nutritional reasons being that brown rice contains nutrients like zinc, magnesium and manganese. It has more fiber
It's so flavorful, I added some garlic, onion and celery as I boiled it. The aroma was captivating, without exageration.
It tasted delicious and I just wish I had more time to cook. It takes a little longer to cook than white rice but it's worth it.

This rice is the answer to all of those that want brown riceDec 15, 2006
By Amazon Shopper2 but don't have 40+ minutes to wait for it. It is also for people that want to get the health benefits of brown rice, and don't like the overpowering taste. The cooking time is only 20 minutes.
I have no problem buying a case of this as it isn't on my store shelves. In fact, this is my second case.
My husband, who doesn't like brown rice, eats this and asks for seconds, When I first told him it was brown rice, he said "This stuff is good- I don't care."
This company knows rice- thanks for a great quality product.

My "go-to" rice for nearly everythingJul 07, 2009
By Sheri I love brown rice. The rest of my family, not so much. So I serve this and everyone eats it happily. It has a wonderful fragrance as it cooks, and when it's done cooking, the texture is more like white rice than brown rice. It absorbs flavorings beautifully. (I use it to make my own yellow rice, which is healthier than the msg- and sodium-filled boxes in the supermarket. Comment here if you want my easy recipe.)
There are still occasions when I want "real" brown rice, such as when I am making a brown rice salad, but mostly I reach for this one.
When I have bought the 4-pack from Amazon (which I have several times now), the expiration date has been about a year from when I bought it.

Love it! Will never have white rice again!Apr 22, 2011
By vivie This is fabulous! My young daughter loves rice, but she does NOT like brown rice. All of my attempts to get her to develop a taste for it were unsuccessful. I really wanted her to be getting more nutrients with our rice dishes. I tried this light brown rice and she didn't notice the difference. I won't purchase nor cook regular white rice ever again. It is pointless with its lack of fiber. Why eat it? I don't understand why this is not sold in stores, like Whole Foods. Glad to have online shopping options!
And, I want to thank other reviewers here for their comments, as they helped me to make the decision and try this. I am converted!

Long time, finally found!Apr 21, 2011
By Carolyn Blakeney This is one of the best tasting rice varieties I ever tried. It was available locally (central Maryland) in the past, but I had been unable to find it for quite awhile, recently ran out of it, and thought it was discontinued (boo hiss!) I never thought to look at Amazon until today, and thank heavens it is available in the Subscribe and Save program! It is still not cheap, but it is much more affordable than ordering directly from the manufacturer's site.
I always wondered exactly what made it "light" brown rice, but after reading through the reviews my suspicions are confirmed- this is partially milled, but not totally stripped as is the case with white rice. That is fine with me- I always have lots of veggies in my rice dishes, so if some of the fiber is taken out with partial milling, I can live with it. The flavor really is better than white, and the texture is not nearly as "tough" as brown.
