Marvelous RiceJun 01, 2008

"The Collard Patch"
Try RiceSelect Long Grain Texmati Brown Rice, 36-Ounce Jars (Pack of 4) for some very special rice. While it is cooking, it will smell wonderful The fragrance of this rice is difficult to explain. I just know I like it. Maybe it is a little like the smell of bubble gum with earthy overtones and a nutty nuance. See? It's difficult to describe!
Texmati aromatic rice is a hybrid of American long-grain rice and basmati. It has more flavor and fragrance than American long-grain rice but less than basmati.
Nutrional Information about RiceSelect Long Grain Texmati Brown Rice: Each 1/4 cup uncooked serving provides 170 calories, 1 gram fat (2% Daily Value), 0 grams saturated fat, 0 grams trans fat, 0 milligrams sodium, 35 grams total carbohydrate (11% Daily Value), 2 grams dietary fiber (8% Daily Value) 0 grams sugar, 4 grams protein.
Caution: This rice is packaged in a plant that also packages wheat and nuts.
While developing the recipes for The Collard Patch, we used it in a hybrid dish. We placed an eclectic group of ingredients in Fish Couvillion, a classic Cajun food. We were working to achieve a Texas variation. Then we served some delicious collard greens over the rice, and we topped it off with the Couvillion. This mixture served on top of the marvelous Texmati Brown rice, which is also a hybrid, is so good that all who ate it kept eating until they could not put another bite into their mouths.
I like RiceSelect Long Grain Texmati Brown Rice seasoned simply with butter and a dash of salt. It is so interesting that I like to savor the flavors.
I hope you find this review helpful.

DeliciousMay 07, 2006
By D. Gentile RiceSelect Texmati Brown Rice is absolutely delicious. It is so easy to make. Just boil water, add a little salt, the rice, and you're good to go. And, the flavor is just unbelievable. It has a nice nutty texture to it, in fact, while cooking, it smells like popcorn. It is a dense, satifying and filling rice, and the bonus is that it is very nutritious.

Pricey & TastyJun 09, 2010

"Oh HELL no"
This is a tasty and healthy option compared to plain white rice. Although a little pricey, I cannot find this brand in my local stores so I'll buy this again when it's marked down. I use a rice cooker and needed to add 1/2 cup more water than the directions recommended. My first attempt came out like a "trampoline for teeth" my wisecracking kid commented. He raved after my next attempt comparing it to the brown rice he's had at Pei Wei.
Preferring rice to potatoes I do experiment with different types of rice and different recipes. This rice is very good alone, with vegetables and in various dishes. Try it you'll like it!
