2It WorksMar 10, 2008
By Researcher
I purchased this printer because I travel a lot and really liked the idea of not having to lug around not only a larger printer but a power adapter as well. It worked okay, but I really can't say much more for it than that. The battery life was shorter than I expected (only got me through about 25 pages rather than 100) and the print quality was about what you would expect from a thermal printer -- just adequate.

That said, I did not return it, as it is a great size and weight. As long as you don't set your expectations too high and you'll be satisfied.

5Pretty amazing printer for the sizeOct 02, 2008

I travel overseas and somethins need to leave a signed or marked up hard copy with the people I am visiting. After looking at all the small ink printed I could not find one that would fit in a computer bag and always work after being in storage for weeks. This tiny thermal printer soves all the problems. It easily fits in your computer bag. It can be stored for weeks or months and will not have the ink dry out. It makes a acceptable B&W print of documents, photos or drawings.
I have had it for almost three years and still love it.

It should be charged after each day of use and printing photos will use the battery up in about 5 sheets.

4Very lught an easySep 07, 2008

It printer is very light an easy to use, decent quality. The only cons is the lack of easy support to use it with vist using bluetooth. It's expensive too. If you travel a lot it worth.

1Could work, should work, but doesn't time after timeApr 17, 2010
By Dylan
I got the Pentax Pocketjet 3 plus with Bluetooth for my Mac OSX 10.5. Keep in mind, this product is advertised to be compatible with Mac OSX...period, no ifs, ands, or buts. Well, not so much...here is the story:

I got one originally without bluetooth, thought it worked OK, but wanted the bluetooth, so returned it and ordered the bluetooth model. I reconfirmed with Brother (who now owns and supports these printers) that it would be compatible with my computer, and they said yes (I have saved the email conversations to prove it). So the bluetooth model came, and it didn't work. So I asked the CSR, he gave me a file to upload into the printer and a user guide (since a mac one didn't come with it) and it worked. So I started printing documents with Preview (for .pdf), Pages, and Word. Well, not only did the printer only decide to actually print when it felt like it (which was about half the time), but when it was printing multiple documents, say 6 pages, it would print part of each page over two pages on the perforated roll, ruining the whole print job and wasting tons of paper. The CSR was on and off helpful, would sometimes take days to get a response from him. We went back and forth, trying this and uploading that, and at the end of it, the bluetooth was still finicky and the printer still printed one page over multiple pages. For what I paid for the printer, it was not worth all this hassle, so I returned it, promising to write this review so that you don't have to go through what I went through.

Virtues of what the printer should and can be: light, small, simple, low-maintenance and road-worthy. That's what I got it for, and I only went through all the hassle with the CSR because I really wanted this to work. Bummer.

Downsides: well, you already know the downsides.

If you do end up getting this printer after reading my review, good luck to you, cause you're probably in for a frustrating time.
