Quick FixJun 18, 2008

Pasta Roni Garlic & Olive Oil Vermicelli Mix, 4.6-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 12) is a delicious meal for two. It has 240 calories per serving plus the butter suggested on the package. I chose to use olive oil instead and to half the amount. There are some problems with cooking pasta that the box cannot solve. For example, it is possible to overcook the noodles or to make the sauce too dry or too thin.
I decided to add something. The package suggested deli smoked turkey or ham strips and sliced ripe olives. I tried a few chopped onions and sliced mushrooms. I sauteed them in the olive oil before adding the water and packaged ingredients.
Then I looked in Flavored with Love: Mary Lou's Family and Friends Can Cook at Mike's Ma's Lasagna and found the meatball recipe there. Yum! With meatballs, it was quite a dish.
The Best Pasta Roni Variety On the Market!Aug 14, 2011
By Dr. D Pasta Roni's Garlic & Olive Oil Vermicelli is the BEST out of them all. You can literally add whatever you want to it. I prefer throwing in all types of vegetables, but you can put chicken or any other type of meat into it. The sauce with that particular type of pasta serves as a great base from which to work with. And it's a quick meal, too!
Great taste, way too much sodiumApr 14, 2011
By Chillyayo While I do take into account the flavor of any food that I eat, I also take into account the contents of the food (per serving) and how it fits into my diet. And one thing that disturbs me is the amount of sodium in a single serving (790 mg or 33% of a 2,000 calorie diet). There are 2.5 size servings per 4.6oz box of Pasta Roni, which equals well over 50% of the daily sodium intake at a 2,000 calorie diet. And unfortunately for most people one serving isn't going to cut it and it's easy to end up eating the whole box.
I don't want to give the impression that you have to be a glutton to eat a whole 4.6oz box of Pasta Roni. I'm well within normal weight range and I don't suffer from any appetite disorder; I can put away a box without getting full. This may be fine and dandy for an adult, however, most adults tend to subjugate their children to their same kind of diet (which can be a bad thing).
As for flavor Pasta Roni does taste good, no doubt about it. And for the time it takes to prepare this it makes a good value for adults in a rush, but probably not for children.
Boxed meal that is better than averageApr 03, 2009

This flavor of Pasta Roni is the best of what they make. The noodles don't stick together like their Alfredo variety, and the flavor of the sauce is quite good, especially if you add some fresh garlic. I also prefer it made with olive oil instead of butter; it's better for you, and tastes nicer, especially with good olive oil. I've added black olives, chicken breast, fresh oregano, mushrooms, and other ingredients and they've all turned out fine.
For a Pasta Roni, this is a great meal.
