5Delicious and creamyJun 30, 2009

I'm not usually a big fan of vanilla-flavored products, but I bought this in the vanilla flavor since I had several recipes on-hand that called for vanilla protein powder. I've bought ON's chocolate and strawberry protein powders in the past and they are among my favorite flavors, and this vanilla one is no exception. It's rich and creamy, and has a nice "ice cream" taste to it. It's also nice having this in two smaller containers, instead of the large bins that ON protein usually comes in. The smaller containers are much easier to store.

After doing a weight workout, try blending a scoop of this with some water or skim milk and some fruit (like a frozen banana and strawberries or blueberries), and you'll have a nice post-workout treat.

I've also been using it to make French toast in the mornings: mix about two servings of egg whites with a dab of skim milk, add in 3/4 scoop of protein powder, keep mixing, and then dip a healthy bread like Ezekial bread into the mixture and cook it up.

Another yummy ice-cream-like treat for clean eaters (in a recipe I found in _Oxygen_ magazine) is to blend one scoop of this vanilla protein powder with three dates, three or four large Brazil nuts, 1-2 tsp of vanilla, and 1/2 cup of water in the blender. After it's blended, add in about 8-10 ice cubes, and then freeze the mixture until it's hard again. This makes a tasty substitute for ice cream.

Enjoy!

5Great before/after workout tasteFeb 16, 2011

This actually tastes like vanilla ice cream and mixes into cold milk very quickly. It's perfect for before or after working out, and I've had good results with it so far. Lots of protein and less of all the other stuff. It's in a smaller, manageable 1 pound container which means I can stash it in the kitchen easily and take it with me on trips where I'll be working out. I really recommend this with cold milk because it sets off the vanilla ice cream flavor.

I've tried quite a few protein powders and this is by far the best. Not heavy and blends really well. I use it to make peanut butter/banana smoothies: 1 c milk, 1 ripe banana, 2 scoops of Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Protein, Vanilla Ice Cream, 1 Pound (Pack of 2), a very large scoop peanut butter (sorry, I don't actually measure it. I usually prefer JIFF - extra crunchy. Love the little tiny pieces of peanuts in the smoothie) and ice. Blend well and enjoy!

I'm slightly addicted to this smoothie and have to have it every day for breakfast. I've tried this smoothie before with other protein powders but are not nearly as good as this one!

The vanilla ice cream flavor tastes so good! It has that delicious creamy vanilla ice cream flavor even mixed in water, and probably will be even better with milk! It also dissolves so well in water and does not make it thick. I used to use the Pure Protein brand and after I tried this brand, I will not go back. Only 110 calories for 24g of delicious tasting protein!! So glad I tried it!
