4Light and LovelyFeb 27, 2009
By Alejandra Vernon "artist & illustrator"
I have dry and very sensitive skin, and not many skin creams work for me; Neutrogena's Continuous Hydration Ageless Essentials is a good match for my skin, but not for night use. I would need something much heavier to last the night. It is great for daytime, excellent under makeup, and seems to visibly smooth out my skin and leave it with a nice feel.

The consistency is very light and almost has a "whipped" look to it, and the first time I slathered it on my face and neck it was absorbed in seconds. The second (or even third) coat seems to be necessary for me, in order to last through several hours of wear. It has a pleasant aroma, and I especially love it on my neck and upper chest area, which soaks it up like a sponge.

Well worth having if you like to vary your face creams and try something new, but don't expect it to be a thick night cream. Light and lovely it is, for thirsty skin in a world where your skin, because of pollution, etc. needs constant tender loving care.

5Feels really good on my skinMar 08, 2009
By Diane Kistner
My 57-year-old skin is very sensitive and VERY dry. I've never liked to use creams on my face because they either sit there on the surface or feel greasy or are too smelly or get in my eyes or break my face out. This Neutrogena moisturizer does none of the above.

When I first put it on my face, my skin literally felt grateful; I don't know how else to say it. There was no heavy odor, and my skin drank the moisturizer in like it was dying of thirst. It probably was! The first night, I kept putting on more until I felt my skin had had enough. After that, I've smoothed on just a little each night before bed. It goes on light but is not a lightweight moisturizer by any means.

I didn't want to review this product until I'd used it a few weeks, and now that I have I've got to say I absolutely love it. My face looks brighter, my skin feels good, and yet it's like I don't have anything on my face. It's like my own skin, but 20+ years younger. I don't wear makeup, so I don't know how makeup would do on top of this, but I can't imagine it would do anything but improve your appearance.

Highly recommended product.

5Does NOT contain Green Tea ExtractFeb 26, 2009
By Andrea L. Polk "Savvy Sleuth"
If you've tried to find a moisturizing cream designed with anti-aging qualities in mind, you may have found that green tea extract is in nearly every one of them. I know this because my mother is allergic to green tea and we've been unable to find her a nightly moisturizer...until now.

Ageless Essentials by Neutrogena isn't greasy, which I love. You're not smearing this stuff all over your pillow at night and wondering how much Spray n' Wash will it take to get it off the pillow in the wash the next morning.

Glycerin and shea butter keep the consistency of this cream smooth, and makes it so a little goes a long way. Don't make the mistake of using too much and this small jar will last you a long time.

The claim that there are 'time-released' moisturizers may be a bit of a stretch, as if you wash your face before you put this cream on at night, you probably have moisture on your skin and this simply locks it in.

The scent is light and fresh (chrysanthemum), and should not clash with any perfume you may choose to wear. I use a light application around my eyes prior to putting on my mineral makeup and it seems to smooth out the fine lines.

Overall, I'm very happy with this product and would recommend it.

4night moisturizer for combination skinMar 02, 2009
By Ellen Etc.
I have combination skin that was oily in my younger years, but we all need a good moisturizer as we reach "a certain age." It sounds weird, but with my skin type, I like a night moisturizer that makes my face look rather "greasy" when I wake up in the morning, and this product fits the bill for me.

This lightweight lotion had more sticking power than I expected when I first used it, and my skin had absorbed enough in the 10 minutes before bed that the lotion didn't end up on the pillowcase. Though I am cautious of added fragrances (which are so often used to mask unpleasant chemical smells), I didn't mind this light scent. I would recommend this lightweight night moisturizer for those who don't need the power-punch of a cream but want extra hydration to start each new morning with a rejuvenated face.

4Continuous Moisturizing Night CreamMar 01, 2009
By Kathy W
Nice product-a night moisturizing hydration cream, this product has a gentle, almost invisible fresh scent. It has a silky feel to it and is very ooo-ahhh to the skin. The light scent would likely be dreamy to anyone who gets that close to your face for a loving peck.

The box states it is dermatologist recommended, is "continuous hydration" with "time-released moisturizers" and, "it delivers the moisture, vitamins, and nutrients your skin needs every day to help it look healthy and younger looking. The glycerin is said to be a "powerful skin soother and extends skin's own ability to build and hold on to moisturizer by treating dry skin deep within skin's surface." Directions are to "massage evenly over face, neck, and chest every night after cleansing. Can be used under makeup."

"For a daily anti-aging regimine, Neutrogena recommends the following additional Ageless Essentals Continuous Hydration products:
-- Moisture SPF 25;
-- Eye Cream; and
-- Cream Cleanser."

I believe this is a very nice product, as I've said. I couldn't decide on it being a 4 or 5 star. It got the 4 only because I personally prefer my Oil of Olay or Victoria Principal products better. That could honestly be just a personal preference. I have used this product on my face and it is great, and the light clean scent is very soothing. It doesn't seem to me that it keeps the moisturizer in the skin as long as oil of olay though.

Let me share my story, as I am a firm believer in good skin moisturizers. I basically neglected my skin for 57 years. About 3 years ago, I started using Avon Anew eye and facial moisturizers for about a year, then switched to Oil of Olay for about the next year, then switched to the Victoria Principal line for the next year. I still use Oil of Olay occassionally. During that time, I also lost 60 pounds. With the weight loss and the years of prior skin neglect, my face should look like sxxx. BUT, with the 3 years of using good quality skin care, my skin looks absolutely wonderful! It is soft and firm, and silky smooth. So, I highly recommend you cleanse your face nightly and use an eye cream in the morning and evening, a day cream on the rest of your face and neck in the morning and a night cream at night. I use an exfoliator about once a week to remove dead skin. My favorite products (in order of preference-highest preference first) would be Victoria Principal; Oil of Olay (see other reviews); Avon Anew; other. As I've said, the Neutrogena appears to be a good quality product too. Use what you can afford, just do it twice every day. Another thing was that I stopped using facial makeup about a year ago. When I put it on recently, it looked like it added about 10 + years to my face. I just use eye makeup now. My skin seems much happier without face makeup, even though it was good quality makeup.
