5Should be advertised as a scrumptious sedative!Mar 15, 2008

Abuelita is a Mexican chocolate drink. It comes in tablets or packet form, but I prefer the tablets. The directions call for you to use one entire tablet, but I would think that would be too much. I use about 1/3 of a tablet and 2 1/2 cups of milk. You heat the milk until it is warm enough, but do not boil. When blended, it creates a nice froth. I like to have Abuelita before bed. It must be something about the warm milk and subtle chocolate and cinnamon flavor, but regardless of how wired I am, Abuelita puts me right to sleep. It has a complex, but lovely flavor. The bottom of the mug can be a bit gritty if not fully blended, but even that is not unpleasant. Try Abuelita and you will be able to swear off any sleeping pills!

5Sooo delicious!!Apr 19, 2011

I ordered 2 cases of this chocolate, because you can't find it in stores anywhere anymore. And it was cheaper to buy by the case. My kids and I love this drink, it's perfect! It is fattening so, we only splurge on this once a week and we don't add any extra sugar, even though it suggests you do. It's sweet enough without.

I recently bought the Abuelita tablets just to try them. I am a big chocolate fan and love to try anything that includes chocolate. I was very surprised at how wonderful it tasted. Now I cant stop drinking it. It is great as a treat throughout the day or before bed. I would highly recommend this drink and suggest that anyone try it.

MMMMMMMM.....If you love hot chocolate you have to try Abuelita. It's much different than the traditional "American" average tasting powders. It's Mexican and it has such a bold, deep, and rich aroma. You will be hooked! I tried it in Mexico and haven't used anything else since then. I bought a case and shared it with my friends. Now, they want to know where to get it!

Each tab will make a quart. Each box will make 1-1/2 gallons, or 24 cups of yummy Mexican Chocolate. This is the best miss out there.
If you make a large batch use the stove and tabs. If you make small batches go ahead and grind up the tabs in a blend or food processor and just mix them with the warmed milk.
