In my opinion this is an essential first aid item to have in your home. You can avoid all kinds of nasty infections by using this to treat scrapes, cuts, and scratches.

5Neosporin: My First Defense Against InfectionJan 24, 2008
By Bryan Carey "Bryan Carey"
Highly recommended by doctors, Neosporin is an effective way to treat minor injuries and small wounds and it quickly eliminates the chance for developing an infection. My usual skin issues involve cuts, scrapes, and dry skin and in each instance, Neosporin is one of a handful of skin treatments I will reach for to solve my problem. I don't experience cuts and scrapes the way some people do (mine are usually the result of yard work or handiwork inside the house), but when I do, I reach for Neosporin and apply it immediately in order to lessen the chance for infection.

Another use I have for Neosporin is for dry skin. Most people don't think of Neosporin as an effective treatment for dry skin, but depending on the severity of the dry skin, Neosporin makes a good choice for treatment. I like to use Neosporin when my dry skin reaches the point of cracking and bleeding. This is common during the colder months of the year when the cold, dry air tightens the skin on the hands and causes it to crack open. It is at these times that I reach for Neosporin to take care of the problem. The sight of blood indicates that infection could result and the antibiotic nature of Neosporin stops the problem before it begins.

Overall, Neosporin is one of the best products of its kind and I keep small tubes of Neosporin in various household locations for quick access as needed. It is a highly effective product at eliminating infection and it makes an obvious choice of addition to any First Aid kit. It won't eliminate all infections and it isn't practical for use on large wounds. But used in the way intended (for minor cuts, scrapes, and burns), Neosporin is tough to beat and it is easily worth its price.

This is the best first aid product ever invented and should be in everyone's medicine cabinet next to Bactine. Cheers.

5Best first aid for a cut, scratch, abrasion or insect bite!Jan 21, 2012

Between my grandson and me it is a race to see whoever uses Neosporin the most. Neosporin is the universal wound treatment ointment that provides long lasting infection protection. It kills more types of infectious bacteria in lab tests than even the leading prescription antibiotic.

Using Neosporin and a bandage helps heal minor wounds 4 days faster than a bandage alone. It is ideal for minor cuts, scrapes and burns. It also minimizes the appearance of scars based on clinical studies.

I use it on my injuries that I get from working in the yard, working on the house or in the garage. We really doctor our grandson as he loves to go to the park and play in the summer and we all know how many germs are lying in wait there to infect every little cut, scrape or abrasion. Football practice and games are also a source of a lot of small dirty injuries that need to be cleaned and treated to avoid infection.

Neosporin has been the #1 doctor recommended brand for over 25 years. It is suitable for the whole family for a multitude of minor injuries. We even put a tube into our emergency medical kit. You can't believe how many kids in the neighborhood that we have picked up off of the sidewalk and put a bandage on with Neosporin after they have fallen off their bike in front of our home.

You cannot ask for a better antibacterial ointment! It is a must have for your medicine cabinet.
