2Cheddar?Feb 06, 2010
By Tiffany N. Denchfield
I got the order incredibly quickly (just 2 days when it said it would take 5-8!) but the cheese itself was the worst cheese I ever have had!

It was stiff, crumbly, and not very tasty. I've never had cheese of such low quality.

It wasn't acceptable to eat alone and all I ended up putting in in grilled cheese sandwiches which was still an incredible challenge: I had to cook on extra low heat to make the cheese melt because it took so long. Eventually I just grated it but that was also a challenge because it would crumble at the grater!

I know that good goat cheddar does exist so there's really no excuse. If I made this cheese on my own and it turned out so bad I would just throw it away, this should not be sold at such a ridiculous price, even veleveeta is much better in comparison

5Compares well with gourmet goat cheesesMar 30, 2010

My wife and I eat mostly vegetarian foods and enjoy really great, healthy foods. We dropped milk from our diet because of its association with the diseases of the Standard American Diet (The China Study: The Most Comprehensive Study of Nutrition Ever Conducted and the Startling Implications for Diet, Weight Loss and Long-term Health) but we love to snack and cook with cheese in moderation. This year we tried a half dozen goat cheeses because goat cheese has certain health advantages (my wife has diabetes and goat cheese because of its lower fat content is much better for her). In January we ordered this goat cheddar along with a selection of goat cheeses from igourmet. It is now a couple of months later and we've had a chance to enjoy a number of good goat cheeses and time to decide which ones we REALLY like.

This goat cheddar compares well with the best gourmet goat cheeses. It tasted much better than the standard fare of cheddar cheese from the store. The cheese that we received was in great condition, well packaged and kept well in our refrigerator for 2 or 3 months. It was very good on Hint-of-Salt Triscuits Triscuit Hint Of Salt, 9.5-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 6) and Ryvita Dark Rye Ryvita Rye, Dark, 8.8-Ounce (Pack of 10) crackers with a distinctive mildness without any sharp bite. The only cheese that we enjoyed even more was the goat gouda available from igourmet.

For a real treat use this cheese to make an egg omelot! (our chickens are looking in the patio door as I'm typing this and they asked me to remind you to be kind to chickens --- please only use eggs from free-ranging chickens)
