mmmm delicious :)May 09, 2009
By radio_babylon ive been wanting to try this for a while now, but was unwilling to buy 10 packages until i had tried it first. the other day, much to my surprise, i saw it on an endcap in wal-mart so i decided to grab a pack (and one of MTR's jeera rice) and give it a shot...
its wonderful! the urad dal is cooked just right, its got just enough kidney beans (some places put too many in for my taste) and its at the nice creamy consistency that i really like. not the very best dal makhani ive ever had, but easily as good or better than in most restaurants. this 10-pack is also significantly cheaper than it is at retail (and WAY cheaper than dining out)...
if you want a fast, cheap, and most of all TASTY indian dish for an easy-to-prepare lunch, you cant go wrong with this...

A nice hearty lentil dal -- see list of ingredientsAug 14, 2010
By Joanna Daneman This is a spicy dal, a mixture of black gram lentils and red kidney beans. It's a good quick meal heated up and served on rice. It's fairly spicy--not overbearingly so, but spicy enough for some heat.
The first time I had Dal Makhani was in Mumbai at a very fine restaurant and they cooked it in a tandoor where it took on the most intense smoky flavor. I toss in a few drops of liquid smoke to remind me of that incredible dal.
Nice for camping trips. A bag of boil-in rice, and you have a decent quick meal.
UPDATE: Someone pointed out that you cannot see the nutritional label here, so I've copied the ingredients: Tomato, black gram, water, onions, red kidney beans, hydrog. veg oil from sunflower, rice bran, soybean, palm and sesame, butter, milk, bengal gram dal, green chili, garlic, green gram, ginger, red chili, cumin, coriander, and fenugreek.

Excellent flavor, good valueFeb 10, 2010
By Hugh Thompson This is a delicious product. I love Indian food and would rate this as comparable to what I usually might get at one of the local Indian buffets. The price is also a bargain, much cheaper than what you would pay in supermarkets for a comparable product.

By Jeff These are really tasty and very easy to prepare. They are a little high in sodium if you're concerned about that. But I recommend them!
