5yellow dalFeb 06, 2010

I love yellow dal- it is just so yummy and I have had this brand before. It is relatively thick and unless you really are Indian, fairly spicy. It is also high in fiber and iron btw. To make it less "packaged" and more "home made" you can add onions, cilantro, spinach etc.

3Nutrition facts wrong again, but very tastySep 22, 2011
By A. Fabbri "afabbri"
This is the second MTR ready-to-eat indian dish I've purchased, and both have the wrong nutrition facts listed on amazon. The package I got has 7g fat per 150g serving, and 159 calories. Sodium is a bit high at 543mg. Note this is almost twice the fat as listed on amazon. There was the same problem with the MTR palak paneer.

Considering I like my indian food healthy, with less butter, this is a disappointment.

Other than this problem, this is a very tasty item. Medium spice (I like things really hot and this is fairly mild to me). Goes great with steamed rice.

I'd like to give it more stars but am pretty disappointed in the nutrition facts screw up.

3UndistinguishedSep 03, 2010
By Kevin L. Nenstiel "omnivore"
I expected better than this from a brand I've come to respect. But this yellow dal has little texture, few lentils, and a merely acceptable flavor. Though I don't dislike it, by the time I'd eaten my veggies and my main dish, this side had little to hold my attention. It just blended in and vanished. Their chana masala was much more distinguished.

I have ordered this a few times. Calorie-content is a bit high. But it's easy for trips and requires no refrigeration. I'll order again.
