All the taste of coconut without the fatApr 24, 2011
By Kelly I love this reduced fat coconut. I like to mix it in smoothies and other things where I want the taste and texture of coconut without the fat. Yes, it is very dry. You're not supposed to eat it right out of the bag. Mix it in something moist (it's even good in brownies) and you won't miss the fat.

Terrible tasteAug 01, 2008
By M. Vargo I purchased this product from my local health food store. It was still well within its sell-by date. I tasted it both plain and in a raw food recipe (with dates and nuts), and in both cases it had a terrible taste. It was very dry and tasted overwhelmingly of soap. I will not purchase this product again.

Go Nuts for CoconutJan 03, 2007
By Ira Sacharoff This is a great product. Coconut has been vilified by some in previous years for being a saturated fat, and therefore unhealthy, but more recent evidence suggests that although it is a saturated fat, it is a different type of saturated fat than the saturated fats in animal products, and in fact is especially healthy. The more recent evidence suggests that coconut, especially coconut oil, helps with weight loss and is heart healthy.
All I know is that it fits in well with a lower carbohydrate diet, has plenty of fiber, and can be used in many recipes.
In fact, I'm about to have my hot brekafast cereal containing almond meal and coconut.

DisappointedNov 05, 2006

I had purchased the regular coconut flakes which were so delicious that I decided to buy this product. Night and day difference! Granted this product is reduced fat, but it is soooo dry and rather bitter tasting. I will reorder the wonderful flakes which I eat right out of the bag and will try to use this up in baking.

AmazingFeb 06, 2012
By snowday I love this stuff. It smells and tastes great. Yes, it is dry, it's reduced fat shredded coconut... why wouldn't it be dry?! No nasty chemical smell, sweeteners or crap in it like other shredded coconut in generic supermarkets. I use it to make myself raw vegan "bread" and protein balls and such. It works well when mixed with wet ingredients.
