These are NOT in fact Salmiak Rocks.Aug 20, 2009

"Licorice lover"
So, what I received were not in fact Salmiak Rocks, but Chocolate Rockies. The incredibly unfortunate thing about this is that these two products look incredibly similar and you cannot tell one from another until you eat them. As such I had already opened everything before I realized the error so I couldn't return them. The chocolate rockies weren't terrible, but they were not NEARLY as good as the salmiak rocks and moreover they weren't what I ordered. When you expect salty black licorice flavor and instead you get "chocolate" (I use the term loosely because the filling was akin to a tootsie roll) wrapped in black licorice, it's rather disappointing.
I don't know how you can go about ensuring that you get the right thing here, which is a shame because the price is great and if it was in fact salmiak rocks, those are a delicious soft salty black licorice with a sweet molasses taste to it.
If you do order this product, good luck.

Salmiak RocksDec 07, 2011
By frank ooms Being a Dutchman raised in North America there was nothing like the black salty licorice my relatives would bring me as a kid, but Salmiak Rocks, didn't discover them well into my adult life. Boy oh boy, these are incredible! I'm making up for the many years I didn't know about these. Taste sensation, I'm thinking of moving to Holland near the factory that makes them!

Not as strong as I hoped for,Sep 20, 2011
By WNC Chief These were not bad, but I was expecting and hoping for the really strong Salmiak rockies. I"m becoming a regular at buying the licorice through Amazon. I wish they would offer sample-sized portions so you could try the product before spending a small fortune on a poor facsimile.
the best licoriceFeb 04, 2011
By dondi I have eaten Dutch licorice since the age of 3 when I lived there. When we came back to the US I could only find the roll of zoute drop, now I can get 6.6 pounds of this wonderful licorice every month with free shipping. It is a wonderful licorice flavor with the combinatition of sweet yet salty at the same time. I have given it to friends who have never had real licorice, and they love it! Usually they just spit it out, but not this one. 5 star good!

By ME Payne I love the Salmiak Rocks, but most Americans will not enjoy unless you have been to Northern Europe and have come to appreciate salty liquorice
