OK, but a Starting Point for Recipes, Not a Finished ProductJun 28, 2009

We found the Kashi 7 Whole Grain Pilaf, Moroccan Curry just OK.
The flavors are diverse, but not very intense - if you like spicy food (as my wife and I do). "Riki's" review has probably got it right - maybe this is a blend which is a starting point for your own seasoning adventures.
Our criticism is that it is awfully dry - even if it is served within a gravy. The granules are just too hard and don't absorb liquid. Perhaps, we would have enjoyed the product more if we had soaked the granules for some time in some tasty marinade, or perhaps just a chicken stock juice.
We were disappointed because we thought it was a standalone product, and not a component of recipes. Now we know!
Two stars for being just OK.

Good for you and delicious too...Feb 04, 2009
By Riki My family tried the Moroccan Curry flavor as a side dish to roasted chicken, and we were pleasently surprised at the flavor. Nice mild curry with a hint of heat and sweetness from the carrots and red beans. Like Coffeegurrl, I will probably add some additional ingredients to my next batch to change it up: spring onions, golden raisins and toasted pine nuts. We'll definitely be making this again.

This is a great little package of gourmet, savory, hi-fiber, low-fat grains. Perfect for work - just heat and eat out of the package with a spoon. I also add some dried cranberries, pecans, or more raisins for variety. Satisfying and delicious - try the 'Fiesta' flavor too. These little packages have inspired me on how to dress up the plain Kashi Pilaf that needs cooking, for family meals.
Good stuff, low fat, vegan, not too spicyMar 26, 2010

This pilaf is very quick to make, not too spicy and very healthy. Most of the packaged indian foods have unhealthy oils or ghee or paneer added. This has very little added oils, no butter, no paneer, nothing to ruin it. You can always add spices or fats, but as a vegan, there are very few prepared indian foods out there that are healthy, IMHO. This fits the bill for my family perfectly. We opened 2 packages for our family of 3 and it was a perfect amount. Those saying it's not spicy enough can always add some Sriracha sauce or Sambal sauces.
