5Hard to find Extra Virgin Coconut OilMay 19, 2008
By M. Barker "God bless us all"
Some people use this as a cooking oil for high temps and also for eating raw. Well, I use it in massage therapy. This is a phenominal product and because it is cold pressed still has the scent of coconut. The aroma is not overwhelming and does not linger on the skin. Because this oil is solid at less than 76 degrees you have to warm it to liquify. To keep from becoming rancid, once open it should be kept in the refrigerator. It contains no preservatives. It will absolutely stain your linens as it is very thick. To remove spray PAM or other brand aerosol anti stick cooking spray on the stain. It will then launder right out. Just know that a soapy wash will not remove this. As a skin treatment Jarrow and Garden of Life are the premier coconut oil perveyors. A+. 2-3 oz is enough for one massage. I use a scale to weigh out for each client, which everyone should do to avoid cross contamination. Try.

5Best oil in the planet after olive&fish&sesame&flax seed oil.May 13, 2009
By S. Modaresi
At one time coconut oil received negative press in the US because of its high level of saturated fat. However, modern research has shown that not all saturated fats are alike and that the fatty acids in coconut oil, the medium chain triglycerides, do not raise serum cholesterol or contribute to heart disease, but are in fact very healthy. Also, some negative studies done on coconut oil in the past was done on hydrogenated coconut oil, which has been altered from its original form. Other studies have clearly shown that traditional Asian cultures that eat significant amounts of coconut in their diet do not suffer from modern diseases seen in western cultures that promote a low-fat diet.

"Approximately 50% of the fatty acids in coconut fat are lauric acid. Lauric acid is a medium chain fatty acid, which has the additional beneficial function of being formed into monolaurin in the human or animal body. Monolaurin is the anti-viral, antibacterial, and antiprotozoal monoglyceride used by the human or animal to destroy lipid coated viruses such as HIV, herpes, cytomegalovirus, influenza, various pathogenic bacteria including listeria monocytogenes and heliobacter pylori, and protozoa such as giardia lamblia. Some studies have also shown some antimicrobial effects of the free lauric acid."

As a "functional food," coconut oil is now being recognized by the medical community as a powerful tool against immune diseases.
And this is the best coconut oil I ever had by the way.

5Best tasting and consistently greatMay 13, 2010
By J. John
I have tried other coconut oils. They can taste funny. The Jarrow Extra Virgin tastes great, like a delicious light coconut flavor that adds a great boost to stir-fry, meats, even scrambled eggs taste terrific. The Jarrow regular coconut oil (not extra-virgin) is also nice but has no taste. I like this one best and will continue to buy it. Yum yum! Also makes a fun candy coating for bananas when mixed with unsweetened cocoa powder and a little cinnamon. Dip banana slices in the mixture and refrigerate until solid. Enjoy!

5Great Coconut OilMar 24, 2010
By Y. Chen
This extra virgin coconut oil is in white color, very very pure, and the taste of it is just heavenly. I use this oil to cook recently and surprisingly it goes very well with some vegetables (especially bok choy, cabbage) and eggs too.

I started to use this oil after reading some research saying coconut oil is a good healthy oil comparing to those hydrogenated vegetable oil. Unexpectedly after taking this coconut oil for three weeks, I realized that my acid reflux symptom mainly stomach pain was completely gone. Now three months have passed, I have not had any stomach pain. To give you some background I had to take acid reducing meds from time to time in the last two years.

I also use this coconut oil as body lotion and hand cream, my husband tells me that I smell wonderful.
