5Hospital StandardJan 13, 2012
By Orlando Boy
As a recent gastric bypass surgery patient, daily protein intake is a big concern. There are some days when I just can't get it all in. Here it should be noted that this was served to me by my Boston hospital, a center of excellence in bariatric surgery, on the very next day following my surgery. It is easy to digest, causes no discomfort, and is very pleasant tasting. I do recommend serving it chilled, as the general taste seems to become more palatable once it's refrigerated. Overall, this is an excellent product. Amazon has the best prices I've yet seen and packaged it in such a way that it sustained no damage during shipping. I highly recommend both flavors that are currently available, the Alpine punch and grape frost.

5Great alternative to "milkshake" supplementsJun 27, 2010
By anon
Isopure Plus is a clear liquid and a great alternative to heavy "milkshake" consistency nutritional drinks. My husband is recovering from chemotherapy treatment and eating is difficult. He needs to drink supplements in order to get enough calories and nutrients. He drinks at least two Isopure Plus drinks every day in addition to other supplements. He prefers the Isopure over the other supplements.

3Expensive, better than the milky protein products, but there is better and cheaper.Apr 05, 2009
By K. Higdon "slave to the pets and kids"
I've recently began a hunt for good protein drinks for myself and my family and it seems like I'm inevitably unhappy with what we get and/or try. Any type of protein shake or powder we get is fairly expensive if it has more than 15g of protein, tastes chalky, and/or has a funky after taste.
This is no exception. Even on Amazon, you get 4 packs of six (24 bottles) at roughly $2 something a bottle. On top of that, there is quite a bit of carbs in the drink, which I'm not fond of, either, and it does have a funky aftertaste. There is only 15g of protein, and 190 calories. (but no fat, so that is nice). The taste is alright---better than milky protein "shakes", anyhow--and is only a preference to me as a 'lesser of evils' comparison. They do have a no carb version, with 60 calories, but again, with the small amounts of protein and the expense of the drink, (plus the after taste), I'm still not sold on it.
What I did end up finding and enjoying is Syntrax Nectar powder. Since this isn't a Syntrax review, I won't go too deep into details, but comparatively---With less than 1/2 the calories, none of the carbs, and 26g of protein, I appreciate the construction of this Isopure product, but prefer it second to NECTAR. Nectar has more fruit flavors (6) and it's a powder, so I can add it to my favorite water, fruit smoothie, milk, or whatever. And in the end, the NECTAR makes 50% MORE drinks for half the price.

3Sugary gatorade type drink with B Vitamins and Lots of ProteinMar 10, 2009
By diljs
This drink is kind of a mixed bag for me. It delivers on its promise of 15g of whey protein in a "light" drink. It brings with it a lot of sugar, and some questionable ingredients.

The Good:
-15g of whey protein in an 8 oz serving. You can't beat that.
-Plenty of B vitamins, Vitamin E and Vitamin C included
-Highly drinkable, definitely not thick or unpleasantly textured.
-The flavor is okay, kind of like a fruity multivitamin. It doesn't taste "proteiny"

The Bad:
-Contains 11g of sugar. Too sweet for my tastes, and gives an unpleasant "stickyness" to the drink
-The second ingredient (after water) is maltodextrin. Without going into too much detail, maltodextrin is produced from starch and interpreted by your body as sugar. It can also contain MSG, and is generally not something I want to ingest.
-Artificially Colored. Is this really necessary?

Conclusion:
While this is an innovating way to deliver protein, and may be useful as a sports drink replacement for active people, it's not something I'd be interested in using long term due to the amount of sugar and other unpleasant ingredients.

4A non-milky, non-heavy protein drinkMar 13, 2009
By switterbug
Protein drinks are usually a turn-off for me because they are heavy with that grainy milk-shake taste and feeling. This is the first protein drink I could actually finish. It is like fruit juice, although there is a bit of sandy texture. However, it is not too bothersome, as it goes down fast. The 8 oz bottles have 190 calories, 15 grams of protein and 33 grams of carbs; it is lactose-free, gluten-free, and bloat-free.

The flavor is acceptable, although there is a somewhat cloying, medicinal aftertaste. It doesn't last long, and I appreciated getting so much nutrition in a compact manner. After yoga, it revitalizes me without weighing me down.
