4Iomega 34342 320 GB HDMay 07, 2009
By Rusty Schakelfer
The product is exactly as described and shipped very quickly (with regular ups shipping it arrived next day). I am extremely pleased with the overall transaction and quality of the product. I would recommend it. One issue that was addressed by a few users is very valid, this is the usb cable not fitting into the back of the drive well. It will become unmounted, fall out or not be recognized if the drive is bumped or nudged at all. To compensate for this I shaved off about a mm of the plastic around the male connector piece that inserts into the back of the HD and the fit is now excellent. You can practically hold it upside down by the cord and it will not come unplugged.

3Iomega USB 2.0 320GB Prestige Portable HDDec 24, 2008
By C. Ling "Chris"
I have been using this drive for about a month now and it has worked very well. The data transfer rate tops out at about 20-25 MB/min. One thing that may not be obvious when you read about this drive is that it may require the use of two USB ports on your pc. The reason for that is extra power may be needed. I have used it successfully on a laptop and destop pc using just one USB port. The only concern I have with this drive is that the provided cable does not fit tightly enough into the drive and will easily become disconnected if the drive is moved around even just a little bit. In my opinion that is a big deal for a portable drive. Other than the connection issue it has worked very well for the last month. In the future I would probably buy a different brand based on the poor physical connection between the cable and drive.

5Iomega 500GB Portable Hard Drive is GreatMar 01, 2009
By James D. Vragel "Jim V"
The Iomega 34169 500GB USB 2.0 Prestige Portable Hard Drive not only met my expectations, but exceeded them. It's been bother having to lug a standard external drive around while on vacation, but the physical size of this drive, not to forget the 500 GB capacity, more than meets my needs. This was a great purchace at a great price.

4Cable issue is fixed...Dec 08, 2009
By Cheri
I just bought two. On both the cable is snug as a bug in a rug. Doesn't shake loose even when hanging from the computer by the cable. Iomega must have fixed the prior problems. Dec 6, 2009.

I've only had a few hours so not much to say yet. It's similar weight to WD Passport Elite I was considering (.4 oz heavier). And 1" longer but no wider or deep. (The Elite was a black Friday purchase & had major defective sectors out of the box.)

Makes a funny buzz-humm if I turn it upside down (while turning, not after turned). Anyone else hear it? Does it imply a problem?

It plugged in, no annoying software trying to load. Nice two port cable so you use the main one (not the secondary feed off the main one). That 2nd port is nice if going to library & they happen to have older computers that are underpowered for current harddrives & need power from an additional 2nd USB port.

Currently I'm testing with H2testw software (available free online) to see if any bad sectors, & gives rough idea of write/read speeds. It's not audibly humming as it's working (till I put my ear to it).

It completed no errors, estimated write/read of 24.5/31.2 of files 1GB large until harddrive was full. It took 3 & half hours to write.

Brushed silver doesn't hold finger prints.
