Iomega is back in the big time!Mar 14, 2009

If you have been using computers long then you no doubt know Iomega's up and down status in regards to storage media. This is especially true with hard drives and in this regard the last 3-4 years has certainly been one of those down times for Iomega. They practcially disappeared from the radar altogether with hard drives. Well this drive is a perfect example of Iomega's new commitment to high quality hard drives and as the title of this review states, Wwith ths release of this drive, Iomega is back in the big time.
To make a long story short I purchased one of these and ran pretty much every test that there is on it and it performed amazingly well. On top of that, with the way this drive is designed and the overall quality of the case, well lets just say that they are now head to head with companies like G-Tech and Lacie in this regard. In fact I would actually mistake this drive for a G-Tech or Lacie if I didnt already know it was a Iomega.
The only negitive I can find with this drive is the price. Its actually about the same price as G-Tech drives and what really makes this a negative is the fact that Lacie now offers thier 2TB extreme for almost half the price of this drive and that is an amazing drive in itself. Lower the price about 15-20% and this thing would be a home run!
If your willing to pay a bit more than you really cant go wrong with this drive. Overall its a fantastic drive and it really makes me very excited to see what Iomega has up thier sleeve for future releases and its been a long time since I felt this way about Iomega.
Welcome back to the big time Iomega!
Power source brokeAug 05, 2010
By Steve Ranieri I believe these drives have a common flaw with the power source (adapter) not working after some time. I had this happen to me and the Iomega people sent me a new one at no cost. It was a bit of a pain to figure out the issue but they were very helpful and it now works great. So if this happens to you just call Iomega and they'll send out a new on at no cost.

UPDATED - NOT DURABLEDec 01, 2008
By Felipe Cruz Ferrero
"Felipe @ CostaRica"
I had given a high rating to the product based on 1 month of usage, let me tell you after 1 year + the drives are literally garbage on our data center, simply not a durable product, drives started making clicking noises but other than the hard drives the iomega software on this device must have some kind of bug that has some weird delay on the array being loaded which became more evident after certain time. When replacing a drive the device had an evident problem rebuilding the array which simply failed at the end. So much aggravation! , i recommend going for higuer end models if you cherish the data you want to save.
