Buyer BewareAug 03, 2009
By Joel Very disappointed with this device. It's a huge money and time waster. I bought this as an alternative when I discovered that B&H Photo didn't have my first choice. I intended to use it to receive files from a failing machine and then as a back-up external with Time Machine. It lasted in service a week before failing. Loud whining noise followed by the classic clippity-clop, clippity-clop drive failure sound. I lost all my backed-up and salvaged files and went through days of customer service hassals first waiting for a replacement power supply (not the answer) and then shipping the failed drive back to Iomega on my dime. The replacement drive never worked out of the box and I'm now faced with another 10 day turn around and more $$ out of pocket expense. There are so many good reliable drives (Western Digital, AcomData, Other World Computing, Newer, Buslink, LaCie, Simpletech) out there I can't believe my misfortune to have wound up with an Iomega boat anchor. Stay away. It's ugly too. Looks like a gutter or siding contractor's idea of high tech sprayed silver. I currently have 5 external drives operating on another machine 24/7. Some for more than 6 years. They're champs. This one is not.

By Triphius i couldn't believe it. ive been saving up to spend the extra money on a new hard drive- this seemed to be a good pick. right after transfering data to it (and DELETING from my computer) it froze and makes this wierd sound now- the computer doesn't recognize it anymore?! Piece of Crap! i learned a lesson- Keep the receipt!

By Roy Wiegmann This is an absolute No-decoration no-grandeur device but does a clean job of copying files n backup. No problems encountered yet.
Good dealOct 26, 2010
By Carole C Under 200 dol, this is a good deal. Installation happens in seconds, has 2 firewire 400 ports. Transfers happen at a fairly good pace. On Mac it is the best device. Five stars for its worthiness.
