What mushrooms?Feb 15, 2010
By C. Freeman This soup is nothing more than a slightly thickened mushroom broth. There are no, repeat NO, pieces of mushroom in the soup. The so-called creamy soup is really just a tan-colored, slightly mushroom-flavored, slightly thickened broth. I am not looking forward to eating the other 11 packages in the carton, and I certainly won't order this product again.

I would give it 5 stars, but ...Dec 19, 2010

I would give it 5 stars, but ... I buy this brand in the store when it's available, and the size is usually 32 oz. Here it's half-size (16 oz) for the same price, so you are paying twice as much. I hadn't realized that when I was buying. But the soup is still good and the ingredients look healthy.

Great as a base, but don't buy it if you don't want to cookJan 22, 2011
By Gillian L. Frazier First, I will say no store bought mushroom soup is very good. This is my favorite store bought mushroom soup because it has a good base flavor. I would never eat it straight though; it is just to bland. If you are willing to saute some sliced mushrooms and add them with some salt and pepper and a splash of cream then you will have a mushroom soup that rivals a nice restaurant's. I have tried to do the same with Pacific and Amy's, but Imagine is the best.
Tasty Mushroom Flavor. Much Better Than Canned Things.May 08, 2012
By Gary Peterson I picked up several gourmet varieties of soups at my nearby Fresh and Easy Market and one of them was Imagine Creamy Portobello Mushroom Soup (16 ounce carton). The carton is slightly different than the one shown here, but right on my carton it says "New Package, same size," so I think it's exactly the same product. I made the soup up with some Garofalo whole wheat bow tie pasta. Mmmmm. It was good. Real nice and creamy and with an tasty mushroom flavor. I would have preferred some visible evidence of it being a mushroom soup, but the flavor was certainly excellent. This was quite good. Much better than canned things I've had in the past.

By a work in progress This soup is only edible which isn't much of a compliment. I found myself using it then trying to disguise it's taste (note the word "trying"). It's not worth it. Try Amy's instead if you're not gluten intolerant. It's blows the other c of m soups out of the water. If I were you (and gluten intolerant but okay w/ dairy) I'd grab a carton of chicken broth, saute a box of portobello's, toss them into a blender to get the consistency you want, heat it and dress it up w/ whatever flavoring you desire. Thicken it if you like. The trick that makes it tasty is to add a cup of whipping cream at the very end and then just heat through. It will knock your socks off!
