I bought this for hiking, and so far it has exceeded my expectations. I have 2 other Helly Hansen tops and they are excellent as well. I ordered a medium even though I am normally a small or extra small, and it is a good fit. The length is about 27" for the medium. It is quick drying and stink free as claimed. I have worn it for 3 days and it has stayed fresh. The dahlia red color is more red than orange.

When I first got this I liked it so much I bought another two, which turned out to be a mistake. The pros are that these are great for cold winter sports and unlike other similar products very comfortable to wear (SmartWool makes me itch).
The really big downside is that the fabric they are made of literally starts to disintegrate as soon as you wear it. The outer layer comes off in lumps and because for the blue ones the fabric is a white base with the colored wool on top of it, you end up with white patches all over so it looks really worn and shabby (and of course you lose the insulation too). This means the thing has a useful lifetime of about a month, which I don't think is acceptable in a $70 top. I always wash my sports gear on a cold gentle cycle and never tumble dry anything, and this happened with all three of them so I don't think it was caused by anything I did.
Helly Hansen have a warranty against defective materials but I didn't have much luck with that. They didn't answer my emails, but I eventually managed to speak to someone and they told me to send it to them to evaluate, but to expect them to take 6 - 8 weeks to decide, possibly longer if it went into the Christmas season. Since they were rather vague about what would happen even if I did wait for 8 weeks, I decided not to bother. In the end I returned one to Amazon and at least got a partial refund. I have had other Helly Hansen products in the past and always liked them, but I couldn't recommend this particular product.
