Definitely not as enjoyable as the Ziti & Meat SauceNov 16, 2008
By Sheri in Reho While I very much enjoyed the Ziti & Meat Sauce selection of this new Healthy Choice line, I was disappointed in the Szechuan Beef selection.
Pros: 1. The sauce, while a generic Asian taste that you get a lot in lowfat frozen meals, was quite tasty.
Cons: 1. The meal left me saying "Where's the beef?" I had to chase around the bowl looking for the few measly pieces of beef in the Szechuan Beef. 2. The ratio of noodles to meat/vegetables was way out of whack (too many noodles and way too little meat & veggies). Granted, though, having a lot of noodles makes the meal more filling. 3. The veggies were minimal, flavorless and so mushy that they were barely palatable, even though the sauce only gets microwaved for 30 seconds.
The last issue was perhaps my biggest disappointment. I have this same mushy veggies complaint about so many lowfat frozen meals and I thought that this would not be true of this meal because it hadn't been frozen. I was wrong. The only time I am happy that there aren't many veggies is when they are cooked to mush.

Quality is OK, Prep a little complicatedNov 17, 2008

I was glad I had a little something else to go along with this. You have to add water to the noodles and then cook for 3.5 minutes. Then you heat up (or not) the sauce and then drain the noodles and pour the sauce and mix, if you want. It did not seem to me to add value to the product. It also seems to have a lot of packaging- a plastic seal around the whole thing to reduce tampering, plastic on the lid of the lid that you remove and then add water to the noodle bowl, then another plastic-covered sauce section. You might be able recycle some of it, but you would have to clean it first. I suppose it has less sodium than a comparable product from Hormel, but that doesn't really make up for the extra prep time / trouble. The taste was just OK.

By Engineer Mom Big thumbs down...Like a top ramen with three almost-freeze-dried gum-sized strips of beef and hardly any veggies. The taste of the sauce was OK, but the noodles were worse than Top Ramen...like stale spaghetti or something.
The prep was overly complicated as well.

Good for a quick lunchFeb 06, 2010
By R. Williams These are great for a quick lunch. I work in an office where I work over the noon hour. They're pretty handy. The taste could be a little better, but for a quick lunch theyre ok.

Quick to prepare, tasty to enjoy!Aug 03, 2009
By (Rizzo) Rizzuto When I was in a lower priced popular food store (they accept what other stores did not or could not sell), I was apprehensive to find a stack of Healthy Choice Fresh Mixers Szechwan Beef with Asian Noodles. I have enjoyed the Healthy Choice Fresh Mixers, Ziti & Meat Sauce, 6.95-Ouce Bowls (Pack of 6).
My concern was why are all these Szechwan Beef noodles here? Did a store not sell them? Were they neglected by customers? Wasn't sure, so I took it to buy a few a try them out for myself.
I like it! the noodles cook well, within 3.30 minutes; the sauce .30 seconds. Nothing needs to be refrigerated! That's the beauty of it all. There are plenty of beef pieces. The sauce is plentiful, tasty, not too thick, just enough consistency. I bought more!!.....Rizzo
