Dense, tasty breadMar 15, 2008
By J. Reed This is a dense, dark, sweet bread. Its very good, especially slathered with butter. Its a meal in itself. I bought my first can at the Guinness Brewery, and have been hooked ever since. To be more genuine, try your best to find treacle. Molasses can be subbed.

I first bought this mix at a local store for @$12.00 a bag. When they didn't have anymore, I checked Amazon.com and was astounded to find that I could but 3 bags for the same price. This bread mix is easy to stir up and really goes great with a cup of coffee. Always, check Amazon.com first.

surpriseJan 07, 2010

We are not beer drinkers so learning first off that this cannot be used in the bread mixer...did I miss that? then to find I need to buy molasses and beer to make the bread...well it was not a happy surprise. I did it though and the result was very interesting. It is a heavy, dark bread with interesting flavor. Crumbly and not for sandwiches but more like a breakfast bread.

One bite and it went into the trashNov 24, 2011
By Holly Smith I am a HUGE Guinness fan and am also a fan of beer bread. Guinness Beer Bread Mix seemed like the perfect marriage of two things I love...WRONG! I followed the instructions exactly and wound up with something that was not edible. It was perfectly cooked, having had no problems with the recipe, but it was inedible. It didn't even smell good cooking. Thank heavens I tested a loaf before preparing it for my family for Thanksgiving today. I'll use another beer bread mix that produced EXCELLENT bread.
Specifically, the bread was dry, much too dense, and had a very nasty taste. I literally took one bite and threw the whole thing in the trash. Even butter couldn't save this mess. Be warned...

Delicious BreadSep 12, 2011
By Zekesgirl This too was part of a gift basket I made for a friend (see my review of Licorice Allsorts), and I put two of the mixes in the basket and kept one to try myself. The bread was delicious and complimented my corned beef and cabbage beautifully. This was a great value as well, since you get three packages.
