Straight from the can I like the carbon original mix much better than the chocolate mix. When I bought this I was looking for substantial chocolate flavor, and these did not deliver. They were good, and I never made a bad waffle (I used up a 3 pack of the 33oz cans before I wrote this review) They come out a darkish brown and hinted at chocolate flavoring, but just lacked the chocolaty umphh I wanted. Luckily this can be addressed, I add a tablespoon of Hershey's classic dark cocoa powder per cup of mix - that kicks the chocolate up a couple of notches and makes the waffle interior really dark.

Golden Malted puts out some of the best waffle and pancake mix there is in my opinion. Everyone raves about the chocolate waffles-put some fresh strawberry sauce on top and I'm in heaven,

THE GOLDEN MALTED WAFFLE AND PANCAKE MIX WAS DELICIOUS. I MADE THE WAFFLES AND THEY WERE LIGHT AND CHOCOLATEY . I REALLY ENJOYED THEM AND CAN'T WAIT TO MAKE THEM FOR MY GRANDKIDS.THEY DO MAKE MORE THEN IT SAYS SO I FROZE THE REST.

The simplest thing to say is this recipe and container make wonderful (burrp) waffles. (or, as we call them "schmaffles.") Every weekend - top of the list. OH, use soda water for the liquid - even better!!!

I used these to make waffles. Not very chocolatey. First I want to thank the reviewer who suggests adding Hershey dark chocolate powder. It really helped. I used egg beaters, skim milk but then added the chocolate powder to keep a very chocolatey taste. Adding chocolate chips also seemed to go over very well.
