5Excellent ORGANIC baking yeastJun 20, 2009
By J. Preston
I bought my first five pound bag of this from my local organic health food store.

I am still using it after a few years. I live at high altitude so I need to boost the yeast content of bread when I bake for myself.

This is an excellent baking yeast. Although this is not advertised as organic, it IS organic and makes an excellent baking yeast, even for rye breads and honey whole-wheat.

I also add about a tablespoon of malted barley flour for heavier breads and it makes fine loaves. Barley Malt Powder, 1 lb.

1Shipping Method DisappointedJul 17, 2009
By Cathy Murtha
I ordered this last week. It arrived in a box with no padding or packaging material. The bag was torn and half the yeast was spilled into the shipping box and had to be discarded.

I'm terribly disappointed in the manner in which Amazon shipped the yeast.

I attempted to use some of the yeast in a bread recipe and it failed to rise. I think it was not only in a damaged container but also dead. What a waste of money.
