3Mango Si, Sugar No!Mar 30, 2009
By C. Fischer
The flavor of the mango was excellent and I would have given this sauce 5 stars for that but I had to dock it two stars for the following reasons:

1) Overly sweetened (probably good as an ice-cream topping though)
2) Not spicey enough for something labeled 'ginger-habanero'

We had some with leg of lamb and it went fairly well, but would have been better with less sugar and more zest. If your taste runs to sweet sauces which are not very spicey then add back stars as appropriate!

4Very good hot-sweet sauceOct 03, 2009
By Ryk E. Spoor "Author, Gamer, Geek God"
We have now used nearly the entire bottle of this sauce, which we have used both for cooking and as a side "dipping" sauce. The mango and ginger combination is well designed, neither too sweet nor overwhelmed with spices, with some complexity in the flavor from the other components.

"Hot" is of course a relative term; I consider this sauce, despite its habanero content, to be of at best medium heat. The heat has a slight "build" in it, but it's flavorful and warm rather than sharp or biting. I would recommend this sauce to anyone who likes sweet-hot sauces. It goes well with all types of food (on which you'd put hot sauce), including heavier meats like beef, poultry, and even fish and vegetables. It's not quite the best sweet-hot tropical sauce I've had, but it's good.

5This is a very unique flavored sauceMay 28, 2009
By Donnie Darko "Donnie Darko"
I didn't immediately use this sauce as a dipping sauce or in any of the traditional ways listed on the jar. Rather, I brushed it on some chicken breasts I was grilling outside... WOW... what a great flavor boost. Everyone was asking me how I had "made such a fantastic BBQ" for the chicken. It was really some of the best tasting chicken I had ever tasted. So, I thought why not try it on some steaks. A few nights later I put some steaks on the grill that I had brushed a good coating of the sauce all over the night before and put back into the fridge. I grilled them good on one side and turned them over, brushed some more sauce on the already grilled side, flipped them again after a short grilling and repeated the process. These steaks also turned out great. I had the same results later with some nice, thick-cut pork chops that I grilled in the same way. The flavor is something that is hard to describe, except to say "delicious"... not extremely hot, not too sweet, not an overwhelming ginger taste.... just a great combination of flavors that seems to complement every food I have tried it on so far. I would like to suggest this sauce to anyone who likes good food, great taste, and likes to try something new. I liked it and I think you will too.

5Awesome for sweet and sour lovers!Mar 29, 2009
By Kevin Nicholls "jaded, aging hipster"
I wasn't entirely sure what to expect with this sauce, but the flavor sounded promising, and it was nice to see that the ingredients are all natural.

I ended up trying in on some baked chicken, and was really surprised by the flavor. By far, it's the best sweet and sour sauce I've had, and the habanero gave it a sharp (but completely enjoyable) finish. If you're in to Asian fusion cuisine, this is definitely a must have for you.

One thing that's particularly important to pay attention to, is that this sauce is meant to be a finishing or dipping sauce. The consistency is relatively thick, so it probably isn't going to work well as a marinade (though I initially thought that's what it was).

The price initially got me thinking "Wow, that's the only thing that will keep this from being five stars", but when you consider what a decent BBQ sauce costs, the per-bottle price is actually pretty reasonable when you take the ingredients in to account.

3Duck - Sauce!Mar 29, 2009
By ~~Hummingbirder~~ "Call me hb"
I love habanero peppers, but my husband was appalled to discover I ordered this sauce. He balked because he doesn't like habaneros, even though I informed him it is a sweet-hot sauce.

A surprising turn of events ensued. I simply cannot stomach this sauce. It is cloyingly sweet. There's a little bitty tingle on the tongue, but sweet is the word. It reminds me very much of the duck sauce served in Chinese restaurants, and the more I taste it, the closer I come to gagging. My habanero-despising husband, on the other hand, just loves it. He finished off the whole bottle, dipping carrots in it. Maybe it's the ginger?

If you love really sweet, you'll like this. If you're looking for hot, you will not.
