What I would call classic pumpernickel bread. Great taste, excellent source of fiber and very filling. The slices are long enough to split into two pieces and make a good size sandwich with only one slice.

Not for the faint of heart, but this is the best pumpernickel bread I have had. It pan fries nicely in butter and becomes sweet if you do it properly, but can also toast quite well on its own. Very fibrous and wholesome; nothing like typical wheat bread and should not be expected to be as such.
Sometimes a bit cracked, but pumpernickel is not expected to be strong and pliable. It'll break on you when you eat it; just part of the process. A very good deal on the whole, certainly the best price I've found.

A crumbly, nutty pumpernickel. The bread holds together enough for a sandwich, but it is probably best for cheeses and spreads. It is good, but it is not my cup of tea: 3.5 stars to be exact.

My neighbor & I ordered a case of this bread. She had never eaten this before lol. She gave her half to me. lol This is a wonderful bread, but it's for hard core bread lovers of pumpernickel. Today life is all about eating healthy foods. This bread helps to fullfill that area of my life. I have a bread machine that I use to make 100% stone ground whole wheat bread. I keep this bread in my freezer for a quick snack. I like this bread with melted sharp chedar cheese.... <3

My husband loves this bread! He is from nothern Germany and prefers the dark breads over the lighter. I ordered this for a Christmas present for him and he was elated to have 12 packs of this bread. He eats it with butter on it, or cheese, or meats - or all 3 at the same time.
I enjoy this bread as well for a sandwich that is not overly thick because of the bread. It has a good pump taste, not too strong and not so light you have to guess what type of bread you are eating.
