5Convenient, tasty, and fun food for lunches or snacksDec 28, 2006
By Kathleen M. O'Neill "Nashville songwriter & internet marketer"
I keep a bunch of these in my office drawer for emergency lunches and snacks, and I love them. They taste great (not exactly chicken-y, but to me that's a plus), the nutrition isn't too bad -- certainly not when compared with mainstream instant ramen packages with their artery-hardening sodium levels and fried noodles (these are baked, and the sodium level isn't too bad), and the convenience simply can't be beat. They may not taste like "authentic" Japanese ramen noodles, but authenticity isn't their strength; instead, they allow you to enjoy convenience foods without incurring such a high cost to your body. Enjoy!

5my favoriteDec 01, 2008

I have tried several of the Dr. McDougall soups and this is my favorite. It is very tasteful and filling. I like to add the boiling water and leave the soup stewing for 20-30 minutes since I don't like my noodles al dente. (I believe the directions say wait three minutes.)

4Actually pretty good...Mar 10, 2010

I was skeptic at first but when I tried it, it's actually pretty good for a non-meat ramen and it's convenient and healthy.

1It's changed and disgusting!Oct 21, 2009
By Noreen M. Sullivan
This was the best vegetarian Ramen soup I have found but as of August, 2011, rightfoods aka San Francisco Spice Co, has completely changed the formula. I ordered 10 cases from them because Amazon Subscribe & Save sent me an email in August saying it was no longer available. I have been eating this soup daily for years. I opened the box and a case yesterday and was surprised to find the soup cup looked completely different. I tried the soup and it is disgusting! It is now a Vegan soup and the ramen noodles are "organic" and the spice mix is terrible. I have been on the phone with Right Foods 3 times. The first 2 times they told me I could not contact customer service directly but someone would call me. I then did some research on the BBB and called the SF Spice Co # and was told they had changed the soup. I would think they would notify customers of that before shipping the new product! Now I am trying to get a complete refund of my money. The picture on Amazon's website of the Chicken Flavor Ramen Noodle soup is not what you will get from any of the sellers. I contacted them and they say Rightfoods has not issued a new image.

4Reminds me of college food (in a totally fun way)...Oct 20, 2010
By Sarah Moon
Like so many people, Cup O' Noodles was a staple when I was in college. However, now that I'm older and wiser, I avoid that MSG-laden, fried, Cup O' Chemicals like the plague. However, every once in awhile I just want something that seems at least a little bit junkie--enter Dr. McDougall's Ramen. It's just ramen-y enough to satisfy me, but isn't salty and gross. In fact, I have to add salt to make it have the proper ramen effect. Anyway, I discovered this ramen at my local grocery store and it was about $3 a cup. I would buy it occasionally, but it seems to have disappeared (and was so pricey). Needless to say, I'm thrilled that Amazon has it, so I "subscribe" to the ramen for less than $8 a 6-pack, so that's endorsement enough.

I have no idea if it's authentically chicken flavored, since I haven't eaten chicken in ages and ages. I would imagine the flavor would appeal more to folks who are used to veggie soups, as opposed to people who are looking for a meaty flavor. You'll definitely want to make it with boiling water rather than the microwave method, otherwise it doesn't get soupy enough.
